  1. I still think your friend should go into the woodchipper. Buscemi style.
  2. So I've got a Dunlop, built to Hendrix-original spec Octavio pedal in my possession, which I may or may not buy. However, I don't know how the hell I can use this thing, as all I can muster is some fantastic atmospheric explosions, but not much else. Chords are terrible, but single notes are mind-blowingly crisp and neat. Anyway, anyone have / had any experience with this thing, and how the hell do you suggest I use it?
  3. Wilcoworld should hold a contest and give one away. To me.
  4. That headstock is amazing. Honestly, I love it a ridiculous amount. However, considering I've only even seen $6,000 in one place at one time once or twice in my life, I doubt I can justify a bank loan for a guitar. "Wait, you want this line of credit so you can get a guitar?" "No man, you don't get it. This is JT's guitar." "Justin Timberlake's?" "No." "...?" "You know Wilco?" "Oh yeah! They play that CD in Starbucks all the time. You're getting the singer guy's guitar?" "Well, it's not His per say, it's just like his. A lot." "...So it's a guitar that's not his." "Well it is and it isn't.
  5. Listen to drolow. I've got an AS83 and love the thing to death. Granted, I swapped out the electronics for a Seymour Duncan Jazz and Pearly Gates set, which'll probably put you closer to $600, but it's absolutely worth it. The stock pickups aren't Bad per say, there's just room for improvement. It plays like a dream now, but take advantage of the complimentary setup the store'll probably offer, because out of the box the action was a bit higher than you're probably going to want. Good luck!
  6. I don't believe that is correct in anyway. Unless I'm mistaken, and in which case, will prepare to be greatly disenchanted.
  7. It's like comparing apples to shotgun shells. Ones that... aren't red.
  8. Take a look for Harmony Rockets on Ebay if you're looking for cheap, vintage, and radical. It's overdriven sound it like being bashed in the throat with a sock full of shiny quarters, and you can usually get them for under $300 if you keep checking.
  9. Will I be able to stuff these in my Electro 2 that's shipping as we speak?
  10. Ordered. First impressions / review coming soon. I don't often buy instruments blindly, but based on the few times I've played them in the show room, the fact that literally All my favorite bands who use keyboards play them live, and the fact that the organ emulation sound samples made me scream with happiness, I think I'm in a good position. I understand the drawbar simulation button thing, but for me, someone who's not used to playing actual organs, I'm sure I'll be satisfied. The preset system is probably most useful for me-- I have the tendency to gravitate towards very specific sounds
  11. Sorry to threadjack, but I'm looking into a Nord Electro 2 61. Have any of you had any experience with these machines, and can you make any recommendations? Cheers!
  12. ...honestly? The Tom-Waits-esque banjo poetry track, the full orchestral swirls, the new singing style, the new guitar tones and the fuller, 'complete band' not just 'a backing band for john samson' thing didn't stand out to you?
  13. Livin' In The Future makes me remember records that were made before I was born, and I feel strangely comfortable with that. He's got some majorly rad tone on this album, even if it is a little Bon Jovi ish.
  14. Looks fine to me, especially as an intro. I'd scrap in a future age though, and throw on something like She's A Jar. You might want to try the iattbyh acoustic version from the intro of said aptly named movie. It's nice as a change, and I throw it in from time to time to show some of the songs versatility. I know you're going for strictly studio recordings, but the quality of the track and it's prominence might be enough to blur those lines. My only other suggestion would be Pot Kettle Black-- you're fairly heavy on YHF as it is, but in my experience, that song really sticks out for peopl
  15. I have a lot of concert missing dreams too. They SUCK. Sometimes though, I have dreams I'm seeing bands I've seen, or, even better, bands I haven't seen. Sometimes, bands that I'll never see. It's not Quite as good, but it's a fantastic experience, especially if it's a deep deep, slightly lucid dream.
  16. I had a dream one time where Jeff and I were in a thrift store with Jay Bennett. Jeff and I were about to leave and go buy banjos, and Jay asked if he could come. We both just started laughing and walked out of the store leaving him there. In the car, we talked about how we both felt really, really, really bad about the whole damn thing.
  17. Don't worry, I read that one. And laughed. Out loud. Alone.
  18. That was posted here, but I believe it was based on someone's conversation with John after an Autumn Defense show.
