  1. You're right, by the defination. I meant it as an "entitlement". As in: "Certain people feel their right to stand outweighs other people's right to see." But I'm not sure why this sentence isn't right: "Certain people feel they are entitled to stand with no regard to the people around them."
  2. Not at all. But if you're 6'6" and have seats in the first few rows, and refuse to sit down when the 4'9" person behind you asks you to, you are well within your rights to do so, but it may be a sign that you're a self absorbed, entitled, jerk. See your doctor immediately.

    Standing O

Agreed! I can't believe some people don't like it. Who wants to post the chords? I'd do it myself, but sadly, I'm incapable.
  4. Try to look at it from their point of view. They paid good money for good seats for a good view of the band. They didn't pay to stare at your back. Also, like it or not a large portion of the Wilco crowd is older and mellower than you probably are. Combine that with the fact that a lot of Wilco songs are very slow and a lot of this tour's songs were not even available before a bunch of the shows were played and it's not surprising that lots of people are sitting. For the most part, I'll stand for the entire show, but if the people in front of me are sitting and the people behind me are s
  5. Well, it does sort of matter since the person with the song writing credit is the one who gets paid.
  6. Maybe it wasn't Jeff. Maybe Tony M insisted on it. I have no clue on the inner working of it all, but it's probably safe to assume that Tony has cart hooked up to the Tweedy horse and while he's concerned about the others and the band as a whole, all of them can come and go except for Jeff. That sounds harsh but that's life in the world of business. Just one person's very uninformed speculation.

That's a great observation. The "better yet" really lays the ground work for change in feeling.
  8. My understaning is that the credit line "Songs by xxxxx" refered to the guy who wrote the lyrics. I took the liner notes in TWL to mean that Pat helped come up with the words for the bridges, and that all of them helped come up with the music for all the songs.
  9. What, what, what? Did he say "this is for Sarah" or "this is for the girl with the sign"? EIther way, it's pretty cool. I love that song and was so glad to hear it at Merriweather.

You know a quality song when you hear one!
  11. Thanks for the tip. I'll try that too.
  12. Don't you mean time is "Sitting Still"??
  13. Am I supposed to be seeing anyting in the Roadcase section of the official Wilco site? I clicked on it at work and got nothing but a blank screen. I figured that might be becasue of firewalls, etc, but when I tried it at home I got the same blank screen. Is it empty or am I the problem here?
  14. Can someone update the title of the thread.......9-27-11, right? Not 9-21
  15. Here's a non-NPR version: http://bt.etree.org/details.php?id=548595
  16. Here's the review from the Washington Post: http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/click-track/post/in-concert-wilco-at-merriweather-post-pavilion/2011/09/26/gIQAbbqyzK_blog.html Best line: "The guitar solo is always stepping aside to make way for a glockenspiel interlude." I don't agree with it but it made me chuckle. In concert: Wilco at Merriweather Post Pavilion By Aaron Leitko Jeff Tweedy led Wilco through two hours of tunes at Merriweather Post Pavilion on Sunday. (All photos by Kyle Gustafson/FTWP) During the mid-’90s, Wilco wrote songs for the megadome but played in mid-siz
  17. I'm surprised at this comment and you're not the only one who has said the crowd was lame. Where I was sitting (standing), the crowd was on their feet for nearly the entire show. There was some sitting early on in one of the slow songs but for the most part everyone in my entire slice of the pavillion was up and dancing and rocking out.
  18. I'm sure this is at every show and maybe already got discussed, but what's the deal with the hanging owl? For those of you who haven't seen it, behind Jeff on stage there's a small wall hanging that looks like a crocheted owl. The funny thing is, every once in a while, the owl blinks. It doesn't seemed to be timed with the music, it just blinks when it feels like it.
  19. I picked one up at the show and I love it. I also love the fact that Wilco does such cool and unique posters/art for each show. I just wish they would do them in a standard frame size! I spent $25 on the poster but the damn custom frame will probably cost $125 more! There are worse problems to have in life.
  20. I can't believe I'm the first to post, and I didn't even write down the songs. Fantastic show. Very high energy. Crowd standing for 90% of it. The set list was pretty typical of the last few shows, with one major deviation. They brought out Nick Lowe during the encore to play "36 Inches High". Jeff announced him as " the Jesus of cool" and after the song said, "that was pretty damn good for one rehersal" For my money, the song that was the most rockin' besides the last couple encore songs was Standing O. Monday and Outtasite were also very high energy. Just a killer performance to
  21. So was "Standing O" confirmed? Did they play it? Who's go the video?
  22. Just started. Jeff came on (taped of course) and said, "This is our new song called I Might" Now they're playing "She Said She Said". If that's a Wilco pick, I support it!
