I have not forgotten Smile, but since it was not officially released as intended until decades later, it was not reissued over and over again. So even taking that into account that's two. Not starting the usual argument again. I hope. This came to mind again last night as I was sorting records for the CHIRP record fair (y'all come out in Chicago and buy records on April 9 at Plumbers Hall) and we got some used copies of Beach Boy albums (beat but originals) and I again thought about all those early albums that we NEVER talk about here, EVER. I mean who wants a deluxe remastered version

Whatever. Don't vote in November, we badly need Trump for president, since Hillary is exactly the same. LouieB

I find it particularly funny that the reputation of the Beach Boys rests nearly solely on this album alone. If this album didn't exist the Beach Boys would be just another oldies act that only old people cared about. I have an extremely beat up copy of the original issue along with the 80s reissue. Since then there have been seen so may other reissues. I think I bought Rosie one of the CD versions with both the mono and stereo mixes on it. (Sorry about the gross grammatical back flips.) LouieB

Screwed up and missed her at Pitchfork. LouieB

Asking again.....did you come already and what did you see? You never said when you were coming. I so love the hit and runs here. LouieB

How many more can anyone buy? I was sort of hoping that this post was the celebration of some other album of theirs. Isn't there any other one fans like? I guess not. LouieB

Yup I did. LouieB

I live in a neighborhood with Muslims from many different countries. I guess they will patrol my neighborhood as well. I mean it's not like Muslim's live in ghettos but I suppose some folks believe they should. LouieB

Did anyone mention the Cat Power covers record? LouieB

A Trump presidency sure would be interesting. Not hoping for one, but it won't be boring. LouieB

Because this country is so divided, maybe mediocrity is all we can expect. Those on the left believe that if only we had Bernie Sanders all our problems would be solved (Obama was way too much of a centrist) and those on the right believe just as fervently that if we had Trump or Cruz all our problems would be solved. I am not sure how you rectify those divergent positions in any way that would make either side happy. Meanwhile the country remains in a morass. This is the reason the pendulum swings back and forth because neither side seems to be able to produce the results some of the popul

I almost pulled the plug and ordered one cheap on Amazon and then had second thoughts. If it is good I'd like it. I always dug Mountain as a youth. I went to a show that Mountain was supposed to headline back in the early 70s. They pulled out and Little Richard did it instead. LouieB

He looks like a doofus I think. Jeff doesn't seem that cranky, but he does seem to not particularly agree with the way the questions are being asked. I think anymore most people answer no to questions even when they kind of mean yes; know what I mean? (No of course not.) I guess the Loose Fur album has to finally come out. LouieB

I had no idea Mountain was still a going concern at that point. Thanks for the info, I think. LouiieB

The most interesting thing about this interview is that nearly every answer to every question starts with "no" or "not really" or some other expression that indicates that the interviewer is on the wrong track. LouieB

Polls and pols.....I doubt most people really care about this. Even though the supposed majority thinks this should be moved forward, your average American has little idea of who sits on the Supreme Court and what they do. Dragging this out may not amount to anything in the long run. I just feel a bit sorry for this guy since I am sure he is a serious jurist. LouieB

This guy is going to be a human hockey puck. Seems like he is up to it though. LouieB

This seems like a safe nomination, boring perhaps. LouieB

Nothing can be discounted this year. When Bernie finally goes down (and comes out and supports Hillary) and his BernieBots refuse to vote for her, then I suppose that it is possible for Trump to win. Of course plenty of GOPers are also going to stay home when evangelical Cruz is also defeated. November can't get here soon enough. Let's hope Obama finally declares marshal law and stays on. (Joking of course.) LouieB

Major political hangover day. Whew. LouieB

Pencil this one in early. I am on again Saturday 7-9 AM central time March 19 (WNUR.org or 89.3 in Chicago) for the Mixtape Show, which again means I am playing odds and ends in little sets that may be of interest. I am going to be featuring songs about Carolina, Thelonius Monk, songs about French poets, selections from the musical Hamilton; artists will include Bill Frisell, Eubie Blake, Mavis Staples, Blind Lemon Jefferson, Tom Waits, Patti Smith, Lydia Loveless, Tom Laughner, Ryan Adams, John Langford, White Mystery, Beach Slang, Milton Babbitt, and others (depending on the time.). I just catalogued every album in my collection
LouieB replied to PopTodd's topic in Someone Else's Song
I need to do this. I was looking through stuff last night to find something I couldn't find (and then found it exactly where it should be) and realized I had lots of records I didn't know I had. LouieB -
The first time? You must never have voted before then. I mean there have been a whole shitload of elections where there have been some pretty lousy choices. (unless your local elections have been all great.) LouieB Just vote everyone and get this shit over with. We are all holding our breath in IL. LouieB
