  1. Yes to the hippie backpacking, but actually I was a semester in London and got a ticket in the last row of the balcony. Still sounded great though. LouieB
  2. Well Kasich needs to win his own damn state. I guess little Marco thinks maybe in a pinch those votes will end up with him. :LouieB
  3. I was actually at the Byrds 1971 show at Royal Albert. The release sounds pretty good. LouieB
  4. Well either way, there would not be "the Beatles" without him. Sure there would be a group that was very popular for a time, but the recording artists "The Beatles" might not have existed. LouieB
  5. I don't know. I think they figure they can beat up on Bernie better. LouieB
  6. Why on earth do Republicans want Bernie as president rather than Hillary? LouieB
  7. Okay everyone, get the hell out and vote and let's put this thing to bed already. LouieB
  8. Honestly I can't remember anything about Tempest. A few months back I didn't even remember if I had a copy or not. Modern Times stood out because of the strange juxtaposition of old songs that Dylan borrowed from and turned into new songs. I love Dylan, but these new albums are nothing but filler. LouieB
  9. Modern Times was an okay album but TTL was mostly a waste. LouieB
  10. Yea okay. Maybe he has one more original album in him. Each new one seems to have diminishing returns though. LouieB
  11. This seems like a cool tour and getting an aging Mavis on stage to upstage him will probably help Bob bring more too. I think we all have to assume that a string of covers is all Dylan can muster any longer. It's not the worst thing in the world, but more Bootleg Series albums are probably in the works. LouieB
  12. Dylan is still cranking it out. Good on him. LouieB
  13. Can this fucking thing be over already. It is taking up too much time and energy. But I gotta say, Bernie is really hanging in there. Go Bern. I was so wrong about Rubio. The guy is finished. LouieB
  14. Since an out of towner was sent here for info on Chicago it should be noted that this thread has been hanging around for many years and some of the info may no longer be accurate. Restaurants open and close with regularity. Please consult Yelp or other websites for up to date info. Any additional suggestions here are always appreciated. With a big summer concert coming up maybe people can chime in again. LouieB
  15. Not sure what you think you will see. Marina Towers is a public place and obvious because it made an album cover, but has no other real Wilco connection. You can hit The Hideout, a place where lots of members and the band has played. If you ask around you might just get someone to tell you where the loft is, but it is far off the beaten track and not much to see. Running into a band member on the street is a long long long shot. Just check out the thread and enjoy Chicago for what it is, a great place to visit. LouieB
  16. Levon Helm's death was a huge shock although he had been sick for some time. Bowie didn't let on so that was a shock as well. Don't get old y'all, it kind of sucks. LouieB
  17. I can't see them inviting any former members. I just don't think any of them would add anything at this point. Horn section, sure. Andrew Bird, great, but mostly I suspect special guests will be opening acts (there have to be at least one or two) and maybe some vocalists. LouieB
  18. I can's see the ChiSox winning it all this year, but fingers crossed. LouieB
  19. Looks like I am doing a double header on March 19. I am doing a Mixtape Show at 7 AM -9 AM and then a Classical and Beyond at 1-4 PM. More details later. Any requests for the Mixtape show? The Classical show will feature modern British composers. Lou
  20. I am sure there will be troops of Dead Heads hitting the lawn for that one. LouieB
  21. I liked him well enough. I guess as an opening act you don't want anyone too spectacular. He is a typical indie rocker. As I mentioned on another thread, today is the actual (and long dead) Kurt Weill's birthday. Or as someone once said, Kurt Vile's stage name is clever by half. LouieB
  22. Cruz is a brilliant and somewhat deranged individual. I am not sure raw intelligence is what we need, but if we do, I guess he is the man. Meanwhile I remember Nelson Rockefeller if that is the guy we are talking about they are not even close to the same kind of Republican. Nelson would be considered a Democrat by today's standards and not even a moderate Democrat at that. LouieB
  23. I do discogs but I would not put my collection on line. it's plenty when I am looking for something and go snag it on the fly. LouieB
  24. Today is Kurt Weill's birthday (the real and long dead Kurt Weill.) LouieB
