  1. I remember seeing this a way long time ago. Wilco was such a new band then. LouieB
  2. Thanks for using my pic as your avatar.... LouieB
  3. this is true. At this point both the right and left are down on Obama so it could get interesting. Listening to some of Fox (and Rush and the rest of those pin heads) Democracy Now, you would think that they are talking about two different Presidents. I am on one of the other boards and not much is happening over there either. Maybe I am on the wrong other board, but frankly I don't care. LouieB
  4. If Coward proved anything, it is that he is really a master on acoustic guitar as well as electric and should be allowed to do some of that with Wilco as well. LouieB
  5. Actually he isn't, but that isn't one of the reasons....(of course you can always start a thread about how much better John McCain would have been as President if you like...) LouieB
  6. He had a great run...RIP Ed... Too bad he died broke, but I guess you can't take it with you anyway. LouieB
  7. I am totally with Gtrplyr on this, but of course I brought it up in the first place. Being even older than he is and being far less tech saavy I had nothing but problems trying to unpack the mp3s so I gave up in a hurry, figuring I would hear it on July 1; which was also a fallacy since I heard most of it playing at Laurie's on a promo CD, that Nonesuch sent out to record stores, on real speakers, etc. I don't care how much better it will sound on vinyl/CD or direct transmission to our brains....the buzz is over and it makes me sad. I think there are other reasons this board is quiete
  8. Since a new Wilco album is not even out yet and people are basically already done with it, there is very little to talk about. LouieB
  9. See Bob Andrews post and let it go. LouieB
  10. You are half right.....this is clearly a PR to try and sway any future jury members, but the other half is no one buys it (then again...) LouieB
  11. Well just finished listening actually. LouieB
  12. This basilica fest seems for the birds.....as in the Jayhawks, the Crows and the Crowes... If you want info on Chicago try this thread. There is plenty of talk about places to drink and stay. LouieB
  13. I hope you took advantage... LouieB
  14. I was shocked at how different some of the CD remixes sound compared to the original vinyl actually.... Finding a copy of this on vinyl is actually pretty easy, it sold very well at the time. Not only do I hear My Sweet Lord, which is pretty obvious (but if I said this before stop me..)it also has 96 Tears in it too.... LouieB
  15. Blink 182 is the punch line to my son't jokes about bad popular music... I had no idea they were broken up..... LouieB
  16. Yikes. I have to work a benefit tomorrow, so I may stop by to say hello. If not...break a leg.... LouieB
  17. You never know is (was) in heavy rotation on XRT and then they threw Walken in the other day just for good measure. LouieB
  18. It was Tower, but back in the olden days....it was Rose Records, which was extremely cool and comprehensive and the kind of record store that seems to no longer exist. At that location, which was the original one as I recall (others came on later including one near Belmont on Ashland that was originally Universal Music if my fading memory serves me well) each floor had different departments, with the first floor being rock (and maybe jazz), the second floor being classical and the third floor being show tunes, folk, maybe jazz, maybe blues, female and male vocalists somewhere too, etc. Each
  19. I will be driving back from Rock Island, but you never know. I will try. Silvies is an okay place. LouieB
  20. I believe I have it. If you check out the other Levon Helm threads I discussed it there. My copy is an LP. Frankly it isn't that good, but it also isn't bad. The one I have is from 78, not 82. I think they are two different albums. LouieB
  21. XRT played Walken this morning coming out of a newscast....early. LouieB
  22. The world is entirely too small.... LouieB
  23. this is a good point and quite true. Back in the day we called much of what is now considered classic rock as "progressive" rock, which is where the term came from. That included Jethro Tull and a whole host of bands like that including Yes, Emerson Lake and Palmer, and King Crimson. Radiohead is a prog group as far as I am concerned. (there are elements of Wilco that could be called prog as well...) Anyone remember Lee Michaels?? LouieB
  24. I sort of felt that way too. I re-listened to it recently and still like it quite alot. LouieB
  25. I would concur with all of these although I only heard the Tim Easton once. The Earle is good, but then you would have to try really hard to screw up an album of Van Zandt covers.... LouieB
