Yikes..this is good news....sounds like a great time. LouieB

Why not just go to your local used record store and get all of them used for a fraction of the cost, plus they will sound exactly as the creator thought they should, well used from being played at a million drug induced crazed parties.... LouieB

Let me see if Laurie's has a copy today, but you may want to contact ND directly. They do send out individual issues. LouieB

Are there any bands you hope will reunite?

Cheap Trick never broke up... LouieB -
My final copy of ND showed up a couple days ago.....sad day... LouieB

Chances are by the "summer of love" Buddy would have been an oldies act just like nearly all his contemporaries.....rock and roll went through some pretty severe changes in the meantime, and despite his genius he may not have made the transition. You are probably correct. A major retrospective on CD is probably in order. Holly has fallen out of the limelight in the past couple decades and maybe someone will pump him back up. LouieB

Someone buy me a couple..I am good for it... LouieB

As always, the Brits dig American roots music such as rockabilly more than Americans. I was shocked to see the 6 LP set for so cheap. LouieB

I know on the other thread some folks were saying how lame the Byrds were, but to me, whatever they come out with from the early days will be gold..... LouieB

For a minute I thought we were talking about the group from Zion, IL. LouieB

A few years back when the Buddy Holly story with Gary Busey was made, Holly got alot of PR. There was also a box set on 6 LPs on MCA which I have that has his entire (supposedly for the time) recorded out put. Nice book too. Actually I didn't buy it in those days, it seemed so extravigant. The Greatest Hits LP at the time was a big seller and I was content with that. A couple years ago this set showed up for $25 bucks and I snapped it up. Oh and the reason his songs are all 3 minutes....thats how long singles were and no one thought you could make a song for longer than that anyway.

There must be an echo in here...time to get outside.... LouieB

Oh I agree to an extent. Musicians can and do long and fruitful careers if they take the aging process as natural and don't expect the same kind of adulation that they got in their early years. Even Dylan has made it through by dealing with the fact that he will never write what made him famous in his earlier years. We can debate how good the more recent records are (or the efficacy of liberally quoting older material), but you gotta give him credit. Interesting article in the Trib today about how the new movie on the Stones makes Mick look like shit physically. Nothing like early Bo Di

That may be the scariest music news ever....... Every once in awhile they play Chuck on XRT and the DJ has to tell people who he is.....or what he did to be famous. Berry's material made at Chess studios may be some of the coolest sounding music ever made....but there is no doubt that he has been an oldies act, doing the same set of songs his entire career. It could be worse I suppose. LouieB

I always heard that was Confucius....but then no one was around with anything other than paper to record who said it and when.... LouieB

Both are sad, but both inevitable. Let's be honest, Roger's act is very routine and old, but then what would anyone expect?? I suppose there are only so many times in ones life where you can put a Beatle beat to a Dylan song or a folk song and make musical history. Roger has put out some reasonably interesting records late in his career, but none of it will beat his work with the Byrds. That's just life I suppose. I am sure he is comfortable on his ongoing royalties from those records and more power to him. You are correct, gadgets and McGuinn kind of go together.... Actually alot of m

Pretty funny....a website for folks in my demographic....but then again Roger is getting up there... Actually considering everything I don't think Roger is all that rich at all. He seems to be traveling fairly frugally in fact. Or is it the fact that he has a bunch of gadgets? LouieB

Agreed..that would be fun...one reason I can't wait to retire....get to this, get to that...get to all the shit I have been meaning to get to all these years... LouieB

I went to Tanglewood as a kid (many moons ago) and while the shed is okay for seating I recall the lawn as being not so great a place to see. But I am sure you can hear. LouieB

The Waco and Felice Brothers and Justin Townes Earle
LouieB replied to LouieB's topic in Someone Else's Song
I finally bought Justin's regular album yesterday and it is good too, but somehow the stripped down sound of his EP is somewhat more appealing. I guess I need to listen to it a few more times.... LouieB -
