  1. Yea, I agree, a Dead or Zep cover by Wilco sounds dreadful and a Phish cover would induce mass suicide here. LouieB
  2. Nah..new bartender.... They play really late and don't even start until 10 or 10:30. You would have to take the el to 75th street and get the bus from there. Not starting the discussion about how safe or not safe it is. LouieB
  3. Greatest post ever...Happy Fathers day to all too....Hot in Chicago as well. LouieB
  4. Bravo......see you there... LouieB
  5. I was going to post this also, having just read it. It's the NY times..it is a style thing.... i thought this article explained alot about his behavior, although TG seems to think the substance abuse continued through Lollapalooza last year where he seemed rather out of it. Glad he made it through. Perhaps better days (and records) are ahead. LouieB
  6. Too bad, that was a good one too...sometimes exposure can be over-exposure. Are these showing more on cable than free TV?? I wish I thought that was funny. LouieB
  7. Okay so this is obnoxious, but I keep feeling each time I see Von Freeman that it may be the last time. He was great the last time (a few weeks back in May), but the crowd was light and the usual bartender was gone, although she did come in to drink with the patrons rather than serve them. Von is verging on 85 and just like with Fred Anderson (the other Chicago tenor legend) who just returned to stage after 6 months with health problems, Von's run of luck could run out... Anyway I plan to be at the New Apartment on July 3 and stay longer than usual if possible. Anyone else going to be i
  8. I have yet to see any of these other than on YouTube. Let's get it going VW, Wilco is waiting on the checks...these commercials seem to be in rather light rotation... LouieB
  9. Oh well Me too You must live somewhere where radio really sucks..., I remember. Theologians was played so often (and I really liked that) that I couldn't stand it. XRT has a remarkably small playlist. My kids and I call it WXREM since REM is played nearly every time we turn it on in the car. Yesterday they featured REM all day. I like REM, but come on... By they way I think VC should be given credit for the the title Walken...had people on here not picked up and kept talking about it by that title in the early days of it being played, I am guessing the title would have been
  10. Those are what Wilco world sells. Summerteeth isn't available anyway. Buy what you can and then you have it. LouieB
  11. Once again I watched this guy first time out back when TV was black and white.....I wanted to be a science teacher as a kid so maybe that had something to do with it. LouieB
  12. I disagree with this (in a friendly way), I think they fit in rather well. Wilco must dig them because they are doing this entire leg of the tour. LouieB
  13. I wasn't there and you were, so your report must be correct (unless you want to argue with the guy who said they got little attention.) LouieB
  14. Walken seems to have taken the place of What Light on XRT as being played every few hours. LouieB
  15. Did they at least play "Let's fight" afterwards? LouieB
  16. Oh and if anyone is interested in a copy of album 1 on vinyl I found two copies that can be had for $10 each. They really don't appear to be that hard to find anymore. The idea of a $40 copy of this is ridiculous... LouieB
  17. See the Low thread...this was my fear. LouieB
  18. I hope so..I think they deserve it...but I have seen Wilco fans be pretty rude to many an opening group. See the Davenport group..someone reported that no one listened to them. LouieB
  19. I know it is tacky to quote yourself, but one of my coworkers had this package at work yesterday and it looks pretty cool. I may buy at it at some point. LouieB
  20. I listened to the famous Zombies album yesterday (well the first half) and I think I need to give it many more spins.....It sounds interesting, but not yet the masterpeice I was expecting. LouieB
  21. Uh...I think that is my point...I have never seen MMJ, but I suspect they have a bit more energy than Low. I think Low is great when you are in the mood, but I keep thinking that they may hit alot of Wilco fans exactly the wrong way. Opening acts often get the shit, simply because everyone is up for the main event. LouieB
  22. Interesting article in the NY Times this weekend... LouieB
