Well she is no spring chicken any more. LouieB

This is certainly jazz in the broadest sense of the term. I got to see him play with Fred one time long after he had joined Wilco. LouieB

The one show I distinctly remember walking out of, not because it got too late or anything, was a show at Metro where the Bottle Rockets opened for Kenny Wayne Shepard. After the BR there was no point in sticking around. LouieB

Hey I don't care either way. No biggie and I am sure Patti doesn't care either. I think Patti is really a case of having to have been there. At the time not much else was happening and certainly women didn't do what she did. Perhaps she is somewhat famous for being famous I suppose; I won't deny that. Some of her self importance was self generated. But lots of us still like her records as well. I had never heard anything like Horses when it came out. And I still like both Easter and Wave quite a bit. Radio Ethiopia is a total crazy mess. The newer material is only good if you like

At the time, definitely. Aside from Joni Mitchell, who was basically a folk singer so no big threat, only Laura Nyro was a figure of equal importance in terms of being a singer/songwriter/rockandroller. She also predated the NYC punk scene of the 70s. Had she been just another chick singer, she would never have made it to the rock hall I don't think. LouieB

You didn't say hi..... LouieB

Oh please....at least Patti put out real records and had a pretty good track record as a poet. LouieB

I can understand the first statement, which you are certainly entitled to feel. The second can only be explained in terms of her historical importance, which is undeniable. LouieB

On top of the fact that John was on fire both nights, was the fact that he genuinely seemed to be enjoying the idea of playing in Chicago and kept saying what a great town we have and how he intended to come back to play really soon. Too bad we have not much of a recording industry here, because maybe we could convince him to move here. He reeled off a bunch of names of folks who had come from here including Wilco, which was also a nice tribute to Chicago as well. Great shows, but Sunday was totally nuts it was so good. Sadly I was out of the room for Famous Blue Raincoat. I needed a shor

That was so cool...even cooler than the guys playing the odd notes on the keyboards Friday night. These guys were clearly musicians and did a great job off the cuff. LouieB

Patti remains one of my all time favorite artists, ever. LouieB

Anyone going to talk about the show at the Hideout...wow..crazy. LouieB

Making a live album can be sort of dicey. After years of doing his songs over and over, why wouldn't an artist, even one the stature of Ray Davies, change it up for the heck of it. Let's face it, this tour was long after the Kink's hey day. LouieB

I heard something off it that sounded pretty good.....will wait for the full album though. LouieB

You had to be there..... LouieB

What did he do? LouieB

I think I asked them about that once, because I was going to be in Columbus and they said they rarely do play there. Weird. LouieB

Strangely I hardly think of them as broken up. I think of them more as just a band that stopped playing together. Unlike others, I don't think they had a personality issues, I think they just decided to call it quits. LouieB

there's an echo in here.... LouieB

I don't listen to the Chicks, but I figure anyone who has taken the shit they have can't be all bad. Meanwhile it used to be that Todd had more hip cachet than you could shake a stick at. Only time has worn some of it away. Damn I need to think of something here.....let me get back to you. Oh yea..Spanky and Our Gang?? I have always liked them and recently bought one of their LPs. Now to find the other two. LouieB

I have seen them a couple times since the reunion and I can tell you this, you won't be disappointed, unless you are too late to get a ticket....go for it. LouieB

Sounds like it. Small children change so fast that the difference between Lolla and now is probably pretty significant. I am going to guess she is a bit more ambulatory at this point. The only real problem with last night, was it ran a touch late for a very young child. There were some youngersters there but not as young as your daughter. LouieB
