Make sure you get a stress test for Aretha okay? Every time I see her on TV I worry about her having a heart attack. LouieB -
You must not listen to too many albums..... just having a new album from Wilco is exciting enough for me.... LouieB

Real in depth material from Paste.... Somehow I think he would have been fine with it. He may not have wanted it earlier in his career, but age, illness, and time seemed to have mellowed Warren. LouieB

This is true to an extent, but I love getting a copy for half price even more. Something tells me this one will show up in the used bins before too long and I will cherish it forever!!!! I bought both Essence and World without Tears for full price and trust me, I don't love either of them..... Louieb

I have now given this album a few good listens and have some additional opinions. It's an okay album, but certainly no masterpeice. I think the song West is one of the better songs on the entire album. The rap song is relatively clever, but still no great shakes. If I can find a cheap copy this one will join the rest of my Lucinda albums, but I am not buying it straight out...just isn't THAT good. LouieB

Does that mean you are coming? LouieB

As with everything in Chicago it is apostrophe S or just add an S for effect. Hence the term Jewels for the grocery store Jewel. Kind of a Chicago thing.... I am not sure who beadsman is (again with the S), but he knows his stuff. The thing about Uno is correct, the real thing quite good, but after a few decades you can get sick of it. There are any number of great taco stands all over Chicago. A great place for either breakfast, lunch or after club fare. (For better Ethiopian food go further north, but that's another story.) Regarding Pilsen..... I spoke to some folks who work at Juarez HS the other day and they say so many folks are getting displaced from the neighborhood that Juarez HS, which used to be wildly over crowded and ran three shifts just to serve all its students, is now underpopulated. I suppose it is only a matter of time before the yuppies take over what was a truly unique neighborhood. Pilsen was a place you pretty much needed Spanish to get around in, back a few years ago. Kind of sad really. LouieB

Actually that is an excellent suggestion. The near southside (south of the loop and south of Roosevelt road)has lots to recommend it and it may at this point be out of reach of a down and out student. UIC is on the near southwest side which used to be sort of iffy, but also is now very up and coming (or maybe it already came I don't know.... ) Since the campus is near the Blue line, you can live just about anywhere on the north side and still get their relatively easily. There are some neighborhoods nearby, as well as the medical center, but many have been gentrified and are getting expe

Hot Dougs is fun if you can get there, but it is not near Lincoln Square. There are plenty of non-gourmet hot dog places all over Chicago. Just make sure they have Vienna Beef which is the Chicago Brand. There are several Giordanos downtown to get stuffed pizza and Pizzeria Uno is near north and not hard to get to and near alot of shopping and other touristy stuff. Yea, please do this so I don't have to write the same dumb shit every time..... LouieB

If you have friends here they will help you out. Needless to say, you can do the museum route, since the Art Institute is certainly worth a day or half a day if you like that sort of thing. The Grind in Lincoln Square is a small cool coffee house and the Kopi Cafe in Andersonville is also fun. LouieB
