Yea he is and totally unappreciated and unrecognized too.... In all the talk about his film career we totally forgot the fact that he wrote the theme to Monk (displacing a great little swing intrumental). John Sebastian used to say that the theme from Welcome Back Kotter bought his first home. I bet this theme also helped Randy put a new room or two on his house. Monk is a very popular show and I am sure he gets some dough for each episode. Oh someone we forgot....John Prine.... LouieB

Did you go to Amazon.com?? There is still Shrimpboat still in print. And if you search even some of the out of print stuff can still be had. I managed to find both of them used at various times. the Shrimpboat box set Something Grand is quite nice actually. Both Duende and Cavale, which are out of print are available from dealers on Amazon for under $10 each. Scoop them up while they are still available. The first album (which I don't own) is also available on reissue both new and used. LouieB

I am not a big Greg Brown fan, but I do have a copy of "If I Had Known" which is a pretty nice collection from many of his albums over the past couple decades and seems representative of his work. LouieB

Yea, I have only been there once and frankly I would avoid it again, unless you really want to see someone there. It is a big glitzy room with expensive drinks (although the seats are not all that crowded together strangely.) Both Kris and Brianne have told you everything you need to know. It is not a typical Chicago club at all, more like a cabaret really. It isn't a rock club at all, no posters and graffiti on the walls. LouieB

I don't know if anyone has noticed but Iggy IS an old man......Actually in recent years, Caddie has been altering its image a bit, with some of the smaller cars and the SUV and such. Nora isn't on all the albums but all three are very good and very different than his later stuff. Also he is on Kevin O'Donnell's Quality Six at the same time, singing and playing. These albums are more jazzy and less consistant however. LouieB

Sometimes the most brilliant art comes from the least amount of work. There is no way it can't be considered significant, even though it may have been an after thought. Maybe the fact that it is so unselfconcious adds to its beauty. LouieB

I totally agree that In My Life is one of the best songs ever written. But as for the Rev. Green, "Let's stay together" is my choice.
