Glenn is finally catching a slot at the Immediate Sound gigs at the Hideout on Wednesday. In this case it is Wednesday February 7 with Jeff Parker solo guitar playing the first set and set II with John Corbett guitar Jason Roebke bass and Glenn Kotche drums. This will be improv as most of the Wednesday gigs are. Meanwhile Nels is playing with the Scott Amendola Band also with Jeff Parker (busy guy that Jeff) on February 3 at the Empty Bottle. This is an early show at 7 PM (Stick around and you catch the Dials at 10 for another cover....) LouieB

The show last night was really quite something. The band was really on and it was quite a trimphant return. I was there from 4:30 until 1:30 AM and so I am pretty beat today. It was fun seeing the soundcheck and hanging with the band a bit prior to the show. The footage from the show itself should be pretty cool. The crowd was really into it and Kevin came through it well. I must admit it worried me a bit to see him drinking fairly heavily however, but I guess downing a bottle of wine is better than a needle full of heroin. I was trying to explain to Wendy at the end of the night, how the Chicago post-rock scene all kinds of fits together. When you realize that the bass player from Tortoise/Eleventh Dream Day and the drummer from Wilco both showed up to see these guys, it is clear that everyone kind of feeds at the same trough, to use a rather gross metaphor.
