Most African-Americans will in fact vote for him, but let's look at it from their perspective for a moment. I had this conversation with a co-worker/friend who is black and his point about this was that Obama is not African American in the same way most blacks in the USA are. His father was African and his mother was white and most blacks in the US are decended from the slave trade hundreds of years ago. Therefore they are not the same as Barak. When push comes to shove and his name is on the ballot, you can still bet they will vote for him. Needless to say some of us already have vote

While Googling Randy (trying to find out how rich he is - unsuccessfully) I did come across this short interview, which is interesting enough in and of itself. The guy reminds me of every nerdy, uncertain, Jewish friend I have ever had. Kinda cool. LouieB

On a trip back from Nashville to Chicago, when Rosie was still a babe in arms, she was unconsolable until my buddy Chris put on a tape of the group Trapezoid and that seemed to work. LouieB

OH I do...... Of all the songwriters of Randy's generation (with the obvious exceptions of Bob Dylan and a couple others), Randy has had one of the longest most recognized careers of anyone still around from the 60s. Sure he moved his career from that of being strictly a singer/songwriter (something he was pretty darn successful at even in the 60s and 70s), to this second career which has brought it quadruple the fame and fortune. Some may not know that he comes from a family famous for movie and theater music. It is in his genes!! LouieB

Well if you want to re-live your youth, I have a copy I can play for you if you get to Chicago....(well used and found in a resale shop.) Abeyoyo has shown up on several of Pete's albums. There is also a kids book of the story as well. The classic Woody Guthrie Nursery Songs is good too. LouieB

Go Bears... I love the speculation in the Trib this morning that Lovie Smith may get scooped up by the Cowboys. Wouldn't that just be perfect. The McCaskeys are notoriously cheap. LouieB

I know I am a nut case, corresponding regularly with the owners of this label and actually arranging to meet them on one of my trips through town (hopefully one day I can actually see their collection of disks and cylanders...). I also highly recommend Lost Sounds, a very well put together overview of early recording by African Americans. This is the one up for the Grammy. The three CD set of Bert Williams is pretty amazing too, but it won't be to most people's taste. If you order it, find a way to let them know you heard about it through me, I think that would be okay. These types of re

Eleventh Dream Day was/is a great band, which has anchored the Chicago indie rock movement for years. I did not see them really early on (it was during my rock hiatus days), but when I did finally see them, Tim was playing second guitar for them at the Double Door, a huge crazy show it was. I once had a tape a friend made of EDD, that had an opening set by Nirvana; yea, that Nirvana, which shows how far back they go and how important they once were. (This was at the Metro... to a sparse crowd.) Rick Rizzo is still one of the best guitarists in town, though now he is an English teacher at

the number of grams of vinyl won't make a bit of difference if it is off center or badly manufactured or the timing is off.... LouieB
