  1. Unlike Glenn's shows, I doubt anyone would come see me... LouieB
  2. Those Chinese sure are clever. I really can't figure out why people are so mystified by cricket boxes with mechanical noisemakers in them. I have a similar box that has a bird in it, yea..its mechanical and chirps when you open it...amazing huh? LouieB
  3. I finally found a copy of Neil Young's On the Beach the other day. Not exactly the most exciting thing ever, but I liked it. LouieB
  4. One would think that people would figure out that Glenn had better things to do than wrestle with live crickets. LouieB
  5. Purely by luck I found a copy of one of the Scott Amedola albums last night and have played it twice. Really great stuff, it should be a great show. It is much less improv than I expected and the violin and the two guitars are really quite something. LouieB
  6. I will back up Sam's assessment of parking near the Park West; but you may (and I do mean may as very uncertain) find parking further down Armitage by two or three blocks. Take a cab or the bus is you can. LouieB
  7. okay is it no e or no n? LouieB
  8. Actually I was expecting the final e to be left off.....crazy. LouieB
  9. How is it spelled??? Did they leave off the "e" or what? LouieB
  10. Yea, I checked out the entire schedule..I am sure this will be interesting, but would be more interesting (watching someone recreate the Basement Tapes) in a club or something. This seems kind of formal. Bill Frizzel might be cool and KAHIL EL ZABAR AND FRIENDS would be okay too. LouieB
  11. That would be light in the sandals wouldn't it??? LouieB
  12. Is that all?? I was expecting something a bit more interesting..... LouieB
  13. I am so out of it, I just heard of OF Montreal yesterday. I suspect these guys aren't hip enough to have heard of Of Montreal (kinda terrible name by the way....) And since when is Frank Sinatra a gay singer??? LouieB
  14. Where do you stay at this event? At least for Lolla and other in city fests you can actually go to a hotel or something.... LouieB
  15. Actually I am glad you posted this..I wasn't going in to see the entire list..... Now I see their point.... (just kidding of course....) LouieB
  16. Matt- you bet. I just really enjoyed the sort of wistful tone of it all. I am fairly certain it was NOT written by a rock journalist. In retrospect, maybe the days when groups were together a few years, had a bunch of hits on the radio and faded away were better than the constant reunions or reconstitutions we see now. I know the M&P did a bit of this too, but no one ever took them seriously after they broke up, nor did they chart any hits. When they said goodbye to the first golden era, that was THE ONLY golden era they had and it was enough. LouieB
  17. I sure hope Rosie can get in on time for this (spring break starts that day) otherwise I may have some good seats for sale....0r one anyway. LouieB
  18. Yea, all that was after my time in Cleveland, I did some excellent sleeping through Orchestra concerts during the 60s, when George Szell was still there. I am half kidding about the sleeping. I did sleep some, but I also saw some fantastic stuff as well. You still in Cleveland? Not me, I escaped decades ago.... LouieB
  19. I saw the Clevleand Orchestra Choir a few times..they kicked ass. (Directed by Robert Shaw at the time if memory serves me well...which it may not.....I slept through a few Orchestra concerts at Severence in my time....) LouieB
  20. I suppose it depended on how many drugs they all took.....was the green Gucci bag in attendence?? LouieB
  21. Somehow I would envision being married to Dennis Hopper as kind of a nightmare. I wonder if that is what she meant. LouieB
  22. Too bad I didn't pick up a copy of this back in the day.... LouieB
  23. The Green Gucci bag reference is about the only way one would know, but only you knew he kept his drugs in a green gucci bag. Yea, this is like the last great song Roger ever wrote. LouieB
  24. Roger McGuinn's song King of the Hill (sung with Tom Petty) is a great, but sad tribute to Papa John.... LouieB L.A's asleep You roll up your window The night air is cold The freeway is clear In a green Gucci bag Are your prized possessions The jewels of your mind To hold back the fear And when Monday comes around There's a high lonesome sound And she follows you down for the kill And a white blinding light Makes it all seem so right And you feel like the king of the hill The driveway is long Your princess is lovely Your servants all wait For your knock on the door How many years W
  25. I really enjoyed this column from the Trib yesterday. Just a touch of nostalgia for y'all. LouieB California grievin' on such a winter's day By Cory Franklin January 24, 2007 The seductive melody opens with a seven-second guitar riff that introduces a distinctive voice singing haunting lyrics, about a man pondering whether to leave his bleak winter surroundings for the idyll of California: All the leaves are brown, and the sky is gray. I've been for a walk on a winter's day, I'd be safe and warm, if I was in L.A. The song was "California Dreamin'" and who knows how many imag
