Totally and he is making no bones about it either. Frankly a draft isn't such a bad idea ultimately. (Yea I know, I am too old to go anymore, but I am old enough to have been eligable the last time), because maybe we would all stop and think prior to starting anymore bullshit like we are in right now. That would be cool. LouieB

Devo WERE great back in the day when they were new. Their first few indie singles were a revelation. LouieB

Sad story....obviously a troubled individual. LouieB

With a major label contract and sell out shows, why should Colin give a crap what anyone thinks about him or his band. LouieB

That's simply not true. But Chicago is a big city and some of the cabbies are not from here so you do have addresses. I mean if you are talking about some hotdog stand (which frankly there are hundreds if not thousands of), yea they ain't gonna know. You don't have to go 5 miles in Chicago to get a decent hot dog (if you consider hot dogs something decent.... ) This reminds me, I have posted this before, but here is my explaination on how Chicago streets work. LouieB Here is the posting I did over a year ago about getting around in Chicago. I have amended it and cut stuff out that wa

Congrats to the Stirratt family, but frankly, who needs this type of info published in Billboard or anywhere??? LouieB

As always, the Reader has a great data base of restaurants that can be searched for particular areas and theaters. I would go with the Exchequer Pub too, although I have not been in years. LouieB

The walking through the crowd and the hobbitt battle were both pointless in a set that was really good (as I menitoned on another thread the new female multinstumentalist is excellent), but it came at the end of what was a fairly short set for a huge sold out show in a big city. They would have been better served by coming out and done a firey last couple numbers rather than end it with such a thud. LouieB

Is that who that is?? LouieB

Buy the entire calalogue, you can't do without it. LouieB

I guess there is really no end to these types of albums... LouieB I guess that was my second thought... LouieB

Happy Birthday!!! Hope things are getting better with your family in Indiana.... Have a good one and see you soon. LouieB

John Cougar?? He was one of the early signers on to Farm Aid..... By the way even though the Bottle Rockets dis him in the song Indianapolis, they apparently once played that song with him, so he must still dig them. LouieB

Is there a kitchen at Delilahs?? Perhaps they will let you bake there.... LouieB

Wow, it is slow around here if all we have to talk about is John Cougar Mellencamp.... LouieB

I sure liked Pervert McMurderman. LouieB

Which question? Actually of all the scenarios, this one is the most possible, but still highly improbable. LouieB

Hey Zeus, will you stop changing your identity? I can't even figure out who you are anymore...... Super good pics by the way. Thanks. I saw three shows last week (the other two have not been talked about here by the way..wonder why??) and this one certainly was the most special, although seeing Robyn Hitchcock with the Venus 3 was pretty special as well. Surprisingly the Decemberists, though quite good, were completely ordinary by contrast to the other two (and played no longer than this trio.) However the new member of the Decemberists is worth noting. LouieB

yea, but it has a good beat and you can dance to it.... LouieB

If I ever get a radio show I will play that....(maybe not all four sides...) I have never even heard that album. Is it still in print??....not that I care.... LouieB

Much of it is highly leaveable, although I have guilty pleasure every time Key West Intermettzo comes on the radio..... LouieB

Yea, it was definitely up your alley. I spoke to other VCers about it and they figured it wasn't up theirs. I spoke today by email with Tim from the Hideout and he said (as I pretty much knew), that what was played was strictly improvisational, no planning whatsoever. I can't stress enough that it was sure a kick to see Chicago's world class improv guys hold their own with Thurston, the rock star. Anyone who has never seen Jim Baker play, you are missing out on something special; the guy is a trip and Avreeayl Ra is a totally nice guy who was clearly thrilled to be part of this event. I t

Oh yea, big time schtick for sure. For those who weren't there, think of Donovan's song about Atlantis and stretch it out into an entire set with costumes, painted on eyes on the forehead and an entire band with drums, guitar and keyboards. I think this kind of think probably goes over pretty well in California, but at a fairly downhome divebar like the Hideout, where all sorts of less theatrical music is played, it was fairly out of place. None the less they did what they did well I suppose. While these guys played at being from another planet, Thurston and Jim Baker appeared to BE on ano
