  1. I really have no problem with people coping old material and turning it into something new. That's the way things used to be, but it is harder now with lawyers and such. In fact if people get really deep into the roots of this music they will end up with music that was written and in some cases recorded around 100 years ago, up to about 50 years ago. LouieB
  2. Three Dog Night was one of the first LPs I ever bought for myself (how lame is that, the other was Buffalo Springfield.) LouieB
  3. I will probably be there. Is Whiskey Bender taping it for you? LouieB
  4. I think we should start a whole thread about classic rockers who should never get another second of air time..... LouieB
  5. Or flat out stole entire tunes (God on our Side...). Frankly I think it is kinda cool myself. Quite true... LouieB
  6. I bought one...... Just goes to show, if you cop a few classic blues riffs you can still sell a ton of albums, but only if you have a long track record to go with it. LouieB
  7. You got that right. Of all the classic rockers, Seger got the shit played out of him here in the midwest during his glory years and the decade or so afterwards. I have most of his records compliments of resale shops for a buck a piece thank you. LouieB
  8. Strange you should ask....it SUCKS..... They have straightened out the old problem but the last couple days I thnk they have turned the air off and the atmosphere is starting to put me to sleep. LouieB
  9. I'm looking forward to dinner....or maybe an afternoon snack. LouieB
  10. Try this...it includes the charging feature. Google Transpod to find the best deal I guess. LouieB
  11. Is there any particular advantage of the USB over the headphone jack? Eitherway you are still running on battery power. The Transpod I have works pretty well and doesn't drain the battery and in fact keeps the battery charged. LouieB
  12. Not really..... John Peel actually sounded better in person. Great song. LouieB
  13. I looked for it. Can you post the exact link?? Thanks. LouieB
  14. There are songs on the new album that are brilliant though, particularly Montreal, Before the Bells (slightly reminicient of Phil Ochs "the Bells") and John Peel. LouieB
  15. Happy Birthday!! Party at the Hideout Friday??? LouieB
  16. Yea, you're right.... LouieB
  17. yea..i need somewhere to put some more LPs..would they work for that>?? LouieB
  18. This week.... The Western Lands by William Burroughs and The Manor by Isaac Bashevis Singer LouieB
  19. What are we talking about here..I am bored this PM. LouieB
  20. I have a copy of the third one, which I have yet to listen to. (No help there....) LouieB
  21. I bought it on Friday and gave it a couple listens. It is a good album (maybe not great), but plenty good, despite the obvious borrowing from old blues songs. Obviously the title Modern Times is meant as ironic, considering all the music is reminicient of stuff from the 50s and earlier, in some cases closer to the turn of the last century. LouieB
  22. This is sad, but the Grizzley Man was nuts, Steve was simply provocative. It is strange with all the risks he did take, that a stingray killed him, since they rarely kill anyone. LouieB
  23. The Tribune ran a nice obit on Dewey Redman this morning. I had no idea he had passed away yesterday when I was listening to a copy of Old and New Dreams I had picked up awhile back. It was sort of strange to pick up the Trib and see he had passed away. LouieB
