  1. Is that really what happened? I don't see Y getting together with CSN then. LouieB
  2. I know folks saw Neil on Colbert the other night. Funny as hell and I give the guy credit for not succumbing to trying to look less than his age by donning a wig, etc., but honestly I wish I could afford to retrofit a classic car so it didn't burn gas, but alas I can't so I guess I just have to feel guilty about it. LouieB
  3. The balcony sound is better than the front of the floor, but not as fun. Nor as crowded. LouieB
  4. Got lots of them but not as many as others. Someday when I have time I may post up. How about solo Jeff too. LouieB
  5. The Riv is a dump, but the balcony is fine. The floor is fine too. LouieB
  6. Not so bad. I got three tickets....Friday, Monday and Friday. I think that is enough......good luck all. Honestly people, there are going to be plenty of tickets floating around for these shows. It always happens. LouieB
  7. Not too worry. There will be tickets around. I hope!! It is going to difficult to get tix for all 6 shows today since they are being sold separately. I will be happy to take any extras. LouieB
  8. Skip Indiana. Actually I have no idea how you get from Ohio to Illinois without going through Indiana though. Or anywhere in the Midwest really. LoueB
  9. Let the madness begin.....it's been awhile. I am going to guess this is NOT a package deal. LouieB
  10. Yea I should have thrown in the Mississippi John Hurt sides. The Vanguard twofer was one of the first records I ever bought. LouieB
  11. Kissing off their old record label is fine. What the hell. Makes money for everyone and makes the fans happy.. Wilco is not going away. It may not be as intense as it was for a few years there, but this is now a mature band, with a mature following. No one is kissing that off. Meanwhile the other day I was thinking how a Wilco version of Summer Noon might sound pretty great. LouieB
  12. Competing with the Basement Tapes. How is this not good news? LouieB
  13. As long as we are talking about old blues folks, then Son House, Bukka White, Skip James, Willie Dixon, Muddy Waters, Howlin Wolk and a slew of those sorts of artist certainly had some essential material after 50. Essential means to me that you have to have it if you like the artist. Or it means it is material everyone should have. I dunno. LouieB
  14. Elizabeth Cotton didn't even start to record until after she was 50. This is also true about some other re/discovered blues artists who did interesting and perhaps essential work in their later years. There is no way to compare what she did as a youngster to what she did later on since it was all later on. LouieB
  15. Not to me. I am totally not into Black Sabbath at all so I have no fucking idea. Did they do anything of note after the members turned 50? I'll take your word for it I guess. LouieB
  16. I don't know what essential means in this context other than better than expected. Few of the albums here are essential, but many are very good. LouieB
  17. The last record was okay, but just okay. I won't be popping for the vinyl this time like I did last time. Just not worth it. LouieB
  18. The site could use an upgrade. LouieB
  19. Somehow i managed to get asked back to be on the radio this year. I will be doing a short set during the relaunched R &B Flashback Sunday October 5 at 530 PM Central time. I will be doing this about once a month. Check me out if you have time. This week are the 20th century Russians - Stravinsky, Prokofiev, Scriabin, and Shostakovich. LouieB
  20. So after giving this album a pretty good listen there seem to be three MOs for the songs. 1. Solo Jeff guitar songs 2. Semi homages to ELO and other groups. 3. Full on Califone. Summer Noon sure is a catchy song, a real ear worm. LouieB
  21. Got my ticket last night too. Sad to see them go. LouieB
  22. I can't get the quote feature to work anymore either. The show I saw was at the Metro. It was a promotional show for Dianne and I got a free ticket, I don't remember how, but the place was not crowded at all. Although Andrew Bird and Bowl of Fire had released a couple CDs at that point, he announced that it was the largest venue he had ever played. He was the opener too. I was mostly interested in seeing Jon Langford, but all were very good. One of the wait staff asked me if I was an actor or something. I guess it was because I was even at that point one of the older people in the audie
  23. I saw Dianne Izzo live. She was the headliner on a bill that included Andrew Bird and Bowl of Fire, back when he was a young pup, and Jon Langford and Skull Orchard. This was long ago. Dianne has been dead for several years. LouieB
