I will buy it too. If it sounds even a bit better and includes material not before available and is annotated, etc, it will be more than worth it. This is some of the most famous material ever and some of the original motivation for people to bootleg records way back in the 60s. Once again, what took so fucking long?? LouieB

The 5 CD bootleg from a few years ago was as close as we had and some of it genuinely sucks. Perhaps a tape that is closer to the source will be better, but I am going to guess that huge swaths of this new set will also be of low quality and mostly of interest to obsessives like us. I will be more than happy to add one more official bootleg to my shelves, but no one should expect some giant revelation. I am guessing the missing songs are more fucking around, more folk material, more half-baked/unfinished songs, etc. None the less at this stage Dylan is smart to release the rest of his arch

Not sure what the point would be on vinyl. These recordings are low-fi anyway. When they were on vinyl they were bootlegs and sounded like shit anyway. A nice set of high quality CDs is going to be a joy. LouieB

Finally. This has been predicted for years and it is finally happening. No more bullshit releases and bootlegs. LouieB

The Old Town School gigs should be cool. The first time I ever saw Glenn Solo was at the OTS back when my kids were young. LouieB

I saw Dianne Izzo many years ago (actually Andrew Bird opened for her at the show.) She passed away a couple years ago. She was poised to be a big talent that never really happened. Her CD is probably easy enough to get, but she remains a cult figure in Chicago musical circles. It's kind of sad really. Her CD is available used on Amazon from dealers for nearly free. LouieB

I suppose as long as there are people still interested in Hendrix they will be reconfiguring and reissuing these records. LouieB

A trip and a half. Dylan curated a Hank Williams project a few years ago with seriously mixed results. Even the third volume of Mermaid Avenue has some dead spots. I totally understand trying to bring back the dead, such as Williams and Guthrie and I am such a nut case that I will probably buy this too, but really why not wait a few years when they can bring back Dylan and the Band? Why not bring out the parts of the actual Basement Tapes that have not been officially released? Rhetorical questions all. LouieB

Aha.......great vid. Those were the good old/new days. And once again, a hooky song with a chorus and a melody. LouieB -

Dexys Midnight Runners is definitely a one hit wonder and a good one too. Who did that Play on Me song back in the 80s. That's one too from that era. LouieB -

Known for one song only is better for sure. The Standells - Dirty Water Left Banke - Walk away Rene The Kingsman - Louie Louie That kind of stuff. LouieB -
Doubling back on Beltmann's Facebook posting, Get On up was a very good musical biopic, with the usual biopic clichés, great music, excellent acting, and amazing art direction. LouieB

Exactly. Actually Hendrix had lots of hits that were and are still played on the radio. The Dead as well. LouieB -
I am trying (with some difficulty) to get Rosie to post the shows. We have this one and the two Wilco shows that I think people would enjoy hearing. We have copies of some of the other past shows as well (though not all) that were also pretty entertaining. Since we are rank amateurs we don't have a podcast or anything like that. So if you know Rosie, contact her via social media and bug her about this. She never comes on here anymore so talking to her here is a waste of time. LouieB

This whole one hit wonders thing seems a bit off. To me a one hit wonder is a person or group who had one hit and disappeared from view or left the music business entirely. Back when radio ruled, back in the dark ages, this happened fairly frequently; someone had a radio hit, everyone knew it, and then that was it. LouieB -
Yea, reading does help. I didn't read the whole thing admittedly. Since it is his article he can create whatever parameters he wants I guess. At some point I just wasn't that interested in reading the entire thing. What you call your band isn't really that important. All bands are made up of leaders and the folks who play the parts. I mean the Beach Boys were a bunch of guys doing the singing, a guy writing songs with help from people outside the band, studio musicians, and people helping doing the arranging. Not exactly a band either. And LCD Soundsystem is one guy with a band name. Lou

Really sad. Being talented, famous, rich, and well loved is no guarantee. Just awful. LouieB

I am not sure if anyone actually listened to our broadcast, but maybe someday Rosie will post it and the Wilco shows, because they were fun to do and I am hope fun to listen too. I would like to put in a request that if you know Rosie (former Tweedy's Gurl here) , she has been on WDBX for over five years and intends to keep doing this for the foreseeable future, Unfortunately WDBX has run into some financial problems and could really use a some donations to ensure they are going to stay on the air. Sorry to be begging here, but it is a good cause (community run not for profit radio), so if

Having seen him play acoustic and electric just this summer I can assure you that if anything his playing is better than ever. I have not picked up this disk yet, but I am sure it is great. There was a version of Vincent he released on a RSD single a couple years ago that is good as well. LouieB

Seriously, give us a listen. LouieB
