  1. I have to admit I have not bought the last few DBT records. I saw them recently though. LouieB
  2. Well I was not trying to get in an argument with anyone. Still plenty to recommend the Truckers but Southeastern kicks ass, that's all. LouieB
  3. Agreed too....but isn't the 5:15 a train time? LouieB
  4. Now that his records are better than theirs (personal opinion) I guess they need him back even if for only one day. LouieB
  5. Okay if you say so. I have not seen them in two years and I know Mark Greenberg is on keyboards. My bad. There are have been lots of second guitarists play with them including Tim Rutili of Califone. once again. I guess I am mistaken. LouieB
  6. Last thought for today. Jeff isn't that old and few bands ever totally break up even when they should. Wilco will be back, have no fear. This break is a good thing. Lou
  7. I highly recommend the Horses Ha CD. If this gets more sales on it from his participation with Jeff, so be it. Also he is on Jon Langford's Here be Monsters LP and out on tour with Jon. Another great member of the interconnected Chicago music scene. LouieB
  8. Sorry this is NOT correct. Jim is a talented guitar player who plays with Jon Langford, Horses Ha (check their album from last year out, it is excellent) and a bunch of other bands I can't name off the top of my head. You are thinking of Rick Rizzo. Rick is a bit of a shredder, but Jim is a very nuanced and understated guitar player. He is a regular who shows up with all sorts of Chicago area musicians. LouieB
  9. Don't freak out people. This isn't the end of Wilco. How could it be?? LouieB
  10. They were stolen in several different neighborhoods. LouieB
  11. Sorry about the car. I know the feeling. I have had five cars stolen. LouieB
  12. I totally agree with this. I had not seen this post until I looked today regarding the story below. There was something very unsatisfying about the movie. It glosses over some of the possible reasons for Rodriguez's failure to make it bigger than he did and also undermines his current success and what he did to overcome his problems in the mean time. It was an okay movie because the basic story is so compelling, but ultimately loses something. Bummer. LouieB
  13. Well perhaps not. Just because it was issued under some label name doesn't mean it did or didn't accrue funds to his estate. I suppose since it is so old that it is possible that it was legal. Also I did not mean to equate NIkki Sudden with Peter Laughner. Sudden had s significant and wide ranging recording career which sadly Laughner didn't Hence the reason he hasn't had enough interest in his work to ensure whatever material he had recorded to stay in print. LouieB
  14. There must be some heavy legal stuff that is attached to this material. It makes no sense that it has not been re-issued in any form in years. There is plenty of interest in him and no matter what the quality it could be reissued. Nikki Sudden's albums have been reissued, as has a box set with some very low quality concert material on it. No reason that Laughner shouldn't get the same treatment. There was one copy of Take the Guitar Player out on Amazon what was in terrible shape apparently and it was still selling for $20. I contacted the seller to see if it actually played and they never
  15. Do you know where he ordered this from? Thanks. It is long past time for someone to compile his collected works. There isn't that much. I wonder if this is a boot too. LouieB
  16. I do believe I saw this tour. It was the same configuration. It was not too long before both Basie and Ella passed. Joe Pass was amazing. I was in the balcony at either the Chicago Theater or somewhere else. It was part of Pablo records which was Norman Granz's later label in the 70s. I was very lucky in the 70s to see a lot of jazz and blues figures like this before they died. I wouldn't trade it for anything. LouieB
  17. I do. This marriage has lasted way longer than one would have expected it to. Anyone been married a long time? If so maybe you can relate. Obviously there is no real excuse for interpersonal violence, but I totally believe that Edie could kick short old Paul's ass. LouieB
  18. I still think the Kicking Television vid should be released. LIke most everything, someday it will. LouieB
  19. The Beatles and JImi didn't tour all that much. Nor did Elvis except if you want to Vegas or were seeing music in the 1950s. I did see MIles a couple times, but later in his career. I have seen lots of legends, but many of whom are not as famous as these. There are plenty of others I wish I had seen. LouieB
  20. Me too. It was too long for top 40 radio so they only played the first half. LouieB I bought that single as a kid. Still have my totally degrooved copy. LouieB
  21. Don't forget to tune us in tonight to hear Wilco covers, solo everyone, Loose Fur, Minus Five, The Blisters, Autumn Defense, Jay Bennett, Leroy, etc. etc. All we can fit in during our two hours. See above for the links, etc. Someday we will post this up so you can listen to it at your leisure. Thanks in advance. 10 PM Central time WDBX.org. LouieB
  22. I dunno...there is something sort of subversive about the Archies. Yea sure.... LouieB
  23. Nor have I. I can only guess the lawn will be a zoo full of half interested loud people. LouieB
  24. I think we will probably put it on YouTube, but I can check this out. LouieB
