Eno-related: What can you tell me about this album?
LouieB replied to PopTodd's topic in Someone Else's Song
Pretty good article. The new album sounds interesting. I need to drag out all those Eno LPs I have. :LouieB -

JS interview - Autumn not a ‘side project’ from Wilco
LouieB replied to Albert Tatlock's topic in Just A Fan
Maybe he needs to get used to the idea of Autumn Defense as being his main gig. After 20 years it has to be tough to be in a band. I think this time off will be good for everyone. LouieB -

All true, or not true. Time will tell, but little of this has anything to do with Obama anyway. LouieB

The stock markets hit new highs yesterday. Thanks Obama..... LouieB

This is interesting. Some material not in possession of Columbia has been released on other smaller labels. Perhaps some sort of arrangement will be made to release this material (which may not be that interesting to casual fans) will see the light of day. LouieB

Chicago's South and West Sides Have Plenty of New Bright Spots
LouieB replied to sfchi's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
I am going to take the middle ground here. This is interesting, but sort of out of context. Of course there are some bright spots, but what are you trying to say by posting this? As everyone knows if you read the Chicago things to do thread that I suggest out of towners get out to see other neighborhoods than the standard tourist or hipster areas. So if this gets people out of the loop/northside/youth ghettos it is all good with me. But how about YOUR feelings about this. Have you been to any of these sites? Have you been to any of these neighborhoods? Certainly go if you have not. Loui -
How did Richard Buckner get into this convo. The guy isn't even on the radar anymore. LouieB

I assume you have already watched The Kids are Alright? LouieB

Sadly this is true. Hamas seems to have done the kidnapping, but did they really? I guess time will tell. This will pretty much up end any peace process for the foreseeable. future. LouieB

This is a really terrible event. I had not heard this among all the other crap going on today. LouieB

Is it taboo to ask about Speedracer
LouieB replied to Chinese Apple's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
Sure Jules was a royal pain in the ass in the political discussions, but that wasn't where he stepped over the line. My interpretation of his transgression was far more personal and mean spirited than that. LouieB -
Is it taboo to ask about Speedracer
LouieB replied to Chinese Apple's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
I don't know about Speedracer, but Jules is not missed. He went a bit overboard in an area in which he should have stayed in the boat. LouieB -
The lawn at Petrillo is bigger than Pritzer I think, but I really don't know. I always used to defend Petrillo, but now that I am used to Prizger it is hard to go back. I attended Bluesfest and while it was fun, it isn't nearly as good a place to see anything as Millenium. Nothing hardly goes past 10, but with this show it will probably be over well before that. Now I actually want to see TWEEDY in a real theater. LouieB

I must be really thick and out of it.. I had no idea these Taste shows, including Jeff are at the Petrilo. I mean what the fuck? I just assumed they would only sell tickets for shows at the Pritzger. I have a ticket through a friend, but this is really weird. It is long past time for them to completely tear down Petrillo and hold everything at Millennium. LouieB

Logan Square is cool enough, but Wicker Park is still more fun to go to and just walk around. There is way more action there than in Logan Square, which is very spread out. But I have to say that Logan Hardware has developed into a really great record store, although I was the only person in there late yesterday afternoon. LouieB

For a ;musical interlude from WWI check out Archeophone's two disk compilation called The Great War. Some of the songs are pretty humorous and some really touching. All from 100 years ago. If I could link it I would, but for some reason my link feature doesn't work. LouieB
