  1. Having tried most of the drugs on the list, I can say with certainty that although I got some really great bonding experiences with friends out of it, I wish I had never tried a single one. That would make me feel more comfortable when I have to insist that my daughter do her very best to avoid drugs ten to fifteen years from now. Granted, there are plenty of folks who manage to live perfectly happy lives that involve drugs and may even benefit from the drugs but I feel like drug use for me was HUGE gamble because I am one of those people who get hooked easily. I can't doubt that my daughter h
  2. Not to mention our obsession with health & beauty products and our mass consumption of insane cleaning products, toxic plastics, whatever, etc. I just had a brief conversation on this topic with my partner this morning. My conclusion: the only way to truly avoid all of this stuff is to move onto some land in some far off place, grow your own food, run around naked etc. and even then, you've probably got some nasty stuff coming through the air from the civilization that continues around you and some freaky stuff in the soil from the run-off from some big turkey farm up the road. Ahhhhhhhhh

    Wilco vs BP

I signed the petition. I thought the little driving babies, "make the day a little better," animated tv spots they've got were cute when I first saw them on tv. They even have a cute little website encouraging folks to live more "green." I guess the adorable ads are part of their whole "greenwashing" attempt at making themselves look like good guys. What a bunch of jerks.
  4. This is set to come out in January. Should be good...
  5. In no particular order: 1) 2) 3) 4) 5) A.M.BeingSummerYankeeGhostKickingSkyBlueMermaids (Cannot for the life of me choose a single Wilco...gotta throw them all in there...which is how I usually listen to the studio albums anyway -ripped the whole catalog to one disc for portability convenience)
  6. You should probably just lay down some kind of negative reinforcement mind-trick on them as such: For a period of several weeks (more or less depending on how often your friends are over drinking at your place), every time you put Wilco on, knock the shit out of your friend(s) as soon as the music starts and eventually, in the future, they won't be able to fall asleep because they will be all anxious and jittery in anticipation of violence being inflicted upon them as soon as the first few beautiful Wilco notes hit their ears. In time, you won't have to actually hurt your friends to keep them
  7. The $5 "Get it N Go" large cheese pizza with the slightly cardboard-esque crust was a mighty fine lunch after a long morning of selling my junk to strangers from my front lawn. I made $83! $83-$5= $78 profit. I have no idea what I've sold that added up to $80+. I will miss none of it!
  8. I tend to prefer the "tangy zip of Miracle Whip" when making a po' man's tuna (just the whip and tuna...maybe some pickles) sandwich. I don't do Hellman's mayo ever really. For turkey or other such sandwiches/subs, I'm all about the mustards...all varieties but I am currently hung up on this one... Excellent stuff with thick sliced cajun fried turkey, cucumbers, red onions, green peppers, tomato, whichever lettuce is on sale (red, romaine, green leaf...no iceberg! blech!), on the softest, fluffiest wheat roll I can find.
  9. Next time you can cover it with chocolate! Awwww yeah.
  10. I bought a doz. donuts this morning and I skipped lunch and had a donut this afternoon instead. I feel really bad about it now though...but I'm probably about to eat another anyhow! I swear this is not characteristic of my eating habits.
  11. Great photos, SarahC! I looooove Scrabble. I hope sharing doesn't jinx my shot at winning some goodies! She's almost 3. She loves Wilco. When she says it, it's freakin' adorable, "Wolco." Every time she sees Tweety Bird on something in the store or on television, she says, "Hey look! It's Jeff Tweedy bird!"
  12. At this time, they are definitely my favorite.
  13. I think they could be pretty useful props for this year's Wilcoworld Summer photo contest. If I had a set, my daughter and I would play with them. Everything is a superhero or a ninja in her world, so we'd have the little fellas running around saving people and karate chopping things.
  14. I hear that's good but that the ending isn't much of a surprise.
  15. Did you get the red sneakers on a wire shirt that came with SBS? I prefer an XL but I got a large on the SBS shirt. I've been eyeballing those Ramones style shirts for awhile now...wanna trade? Or maybe I could just bid on your auction...
  16. I believe I have agreed with you on this in another thread...yeah, how can this song not elicit some emotion in a listener? "Tis downright depressing. Other stand-out songs for this particular moment: At Least That's What You Said gets me all twisted up in my guts...in a good way. Magazine Called Sunset elicits the happy. Candyfloss also elicits the happy. Really, I can't think of any Wilco tunes that don't get some kind of emotional response from me. Even Casino Queen, gets my spirits swirling -that's an emotion, right? This is why I love the Wilco (and all good music), all that spir
  17. Just listening to the 10-16-06 Springfield, MO show tonight and loving Let's Not Get Carried Away. Altogether an awesome show...a roller coaster, wheeee!!! Is LNGCA going to become one of those songs that never gets played? I see on Wilcobase that they haven't played it this year...I'm crossing my fingers for Little Rock.
  18. I'm just adding this here rather than start a new thread. Hopefully it hasn't been mentioned elsewhere already.... I, like so many Beastie fans, have spent many late nights tossing and turning in bed, pondering the question, "Where did they get that freakin' "d*ck in the mashed potatoes" sample!?" Well, now I can sleep easy because here is the answer. Woo-hoo!!
