  1. My top 5 (with far less to choose from than remphish and some of the others around here!). #1 - Wilco in Sao Paulo Brazil. Night 1 Popload festival 10/8 slightly ahead of the Night 2 smaller show on 10/9. #2 - Califone LRS in Chicago 5/14 (which made for a nice two-fer with the JT Vic show on 5/13) #3 - Jayhawks 5/20 at Headliners in Louisville #4 - Yo La Tengo 3/29 at Exit/In in Nashville #5 - Wilco two night stand at the Tabernacle in Atlanta Feb 10 & 11. Feb 10 was the better of the two; BBN was played (see profile pic....)
  2. Songkick is alerting for a 4th show on Sunday night 2/26... nothing on wilcoworld yet.

  6. Great to hear that the show was such a positive experience for you and for the band. This is who we are - music lovers in a community of caring people enjoying the company of each other and always looking forward to our next opportunity for that catharsis.
  7. The Popload Festival was the triumphant debut of Wilco in Sao Paulo Brazil. You couldn’t ask for a more beautiful springtime evening anywhere in the world. Thousands of adoring Wilco fans rocked and cheered and ole’ed and gave it up to a delighted Wilco onstage who were on fire the whole night. It was loud, it was raucous, and the crowd loved every minute of it. The festival was well-run, easy to navigate, good (and loud) sound, and plenty of happy and friendly Wilco fans. On the way out, free water bottles were handed out to the fans – a very nice touch and welcome indeed. The evening ma
  8. The headline for the show at Auditorio Ibirapuera could be “A Tale of Two Concerts”, “The Night Glenn Incited a Riot”, or “Mariana’s Gift”. It was one of the most memorable shows I’ve ever seen. Banter corner was alive and well. The venue was an 800-seat theater, 50-ish seats wide and only around 15 rows deep with a lot of upslope to the back row. It was certainly built for acoustics and comfort, and designed by Oscar Niemeyer. The band was set up in a tight circle on the very front of a huge, low stage, without the big amps from the festival set. The show started very early, maybe 7:15 l
  9. Yes, the show was canceled, due to "insurmountable logistics" problems. Quite a pity.... More info here : https://www.facebook.com/Primavera0uy/posts/981597355284734
  10. bummer... bbop said he was on bass for Locator at the Pritzker show; I was hoping that might be a thing.
  11. Does "Just Say Goodbye" have the same 2-bass guitar setup as "Locator"? Sounds like it might be on the record... wondered if Pat was on bass on this one too.
  12. Today's Schmilco thought - I'm really liking "Normal American Kids". I like that it's just a couple of instruments (Jeff and Nels based on the live reports). Glad that they didn't feel obligated to cram all 6 people into the song and just let it be sparse. It sets the tone for the whole record that way.
  13. cool... I've heard that too, very European-like. I'll have colleagues to help me around which will be great. I'm English-only, so the help will be welcome.
  14. no, but I have plans to be there (and Sao Paulo) early next month on business and was looking very forward to attending both shows. One festival... one small venue... sigh. I'm from Kentucky. This will be my first time to Uruguay, and only my second trip to South America. Very excited to go there, even with the disappointing news on the show. You?
  15. The Montevideo Uruguay show has disappeared from the wilcoworld page, and word from the local venue company is that the show is canceled. This is incredibly bad news.
  16. I've had it on nonstop for the past week, and it's kinda hard to for it to "sink in" for me. I may have to put it away for a week or so then get it back out again. It has a lot of depth and beautiful sounds inside its rather sparse overall feel. I agree with the comments about the strong lyrics, which also makes it a little harder to absorb right away. SW was very immediate for me Maybe the surprise "blast" of the record helped that - no hype, no 1 or 2 songs dribbled out early, no preconceptions based on media, etc. This one is certainly a record that takes a little more time to absor
  17. Deeeeelightful recount of our beloved recounter. There's nothing anonymous about the bbop. Although the BOB alias might just stick...
