  1. St. Vincent SPOILER - The new material was quite good - the second half of the show was the entire new album front to back. That really "fit" the whole spectacle she had going with the outfits and the video's and all that. I was less thrilled with the first half of the show which was 40 minutes of her previous and more well-known songs which felt kind of rushed. And the arrangements of the older songs were redone in the vein of the new material (quite thumpy) and didn't do them justice imo. No backing band at all - just her and her guitar(s) and backing tracks. I'd rather have m
  2. I'd have to say that Night 3 was my favorite, even though it was the only night without the Nova. I did manage to make an impromptu sign that said "WILL TRADE NOVA 4 HOODOO" which got a chuckle and a "we'll talk later" from Jeff. And the "HIATUS SCHMIATUS" sign drew some laughs too. But as Paul and B have said, the emotion and the togetherness of everyone there was dialed up to 11. For those of us who lined up early, hung out late, and gave it our all as highly active participants (see night 2 stream!), it was a wonderful run capped off by a great night of music. Old friends, new friends..
  3. Na Xi music concert in Lijiang, Yunnan, China.
  4. Sorry to hear that. Peace to you and yours. Vince
  5. 12/1? Man, I sure hope this makes its way into the 3-night St. Paul run next month....
  6. Something called "Markiplier" tonight with the middle kid, who doesn't do the shows that my daughter and I like. Spreading out the dad points...
  7. I counted 30 on the first "page" of the oversized setlist, and there were about that many on the second page. A little over 2 1/2 hours... Pretty loud, pretty fun. Really good crowd. They have quite the cult following - most folks down front were from way out of town it seemed.
  8. Guided by Voices (an evening with!)
  9. Drive By Truckers played The Waiting and Southern Accents last night here in Lexington. Really sweet.
  10. Definitely of interest to me, so thanks as always for the recap... and good to know the Nova is holding up well this tour. See you in Atlanta! Yeah, this latest hybrid version is chilling. The version at Solid Sound this summer (outside at Joe's field) was especially breathtaking.
  11. Orchestra Right, Row E, seat 6. Face & fees $102.... Pat's side, plus you get to sit next to the coolest peeps on VC. Can email the PDF or TM transfer. Vince
  12. Wow, good for you! Not easy, but onward and upward for sure. Enjoy the change and I hope you love it.
  13. I remember reading something when KT came out where Jeff was saying that the live version on KT was much more of a "performance" of the song as compared to the studio version which had a lot of overdubbing and piecing together of the final version. I got the feeling that the KT version (AGIB tour) was the first time they did the version we all know today.
  14. Wow, can you imagine such a thing? Tsk, tsk... Last time I heard that song live was on my 50th birthday (which happened to coincide with Stan's >50th birthday), and they sang it in honor of that. Jeff introduced it by saying it was one of their "edgy" songs. It's a real treat!!
  15. Thanks Paul (and Joe!!) - a great read on this Sunday Morning. One can only imagine Jeff scanning the room for a sign, finding none, and deciding to save it for the upcoming tour. I approve. By the way Jeff, that would be Atlanta and Asheville, just to be clear. Vince
  16. I agree. I saw the same show at Indy last Sunday and it was excellent. And while the prices for the good seats are pretty expensive (not unlike other really big acts lately), having the $70 GA floor tickets is a pretty nice gesture for fans imo.
