Wilco — 1 October 2017, Austin, TX (Bass Concert Hall)
theashtraysays replied to bböp's topic in After The Show
Definitely of interest to me, so thanks as always for the recap... and good to know the Nova is holding up well this tour. See you in Atlanta! Yeah, this latest hybrid version is chilling. The version at Solid Sound this summer (outside at Joe's field) was especially breathtaking. -
Well done!! Can't wait to see it all come together!!

Wow, good for you! Not easy, but onward and upward for sure. Enjoy the change and I hope you love it.

I remember reading something when KT came out where Jeff was saying that the live version on KT was much more of a "performance" of the song as compared to the studio version which had a lot of overdubbing and piecing together of the final version. I got the feeling that the KT version (AGIB tour) was the first time they did the version we all know today.

Wilco — 24 September 2017, Tulsa, OK (Brady Theater)

Wow, can you imagine such a thing? Tsk, tsk... Last time I heard that song live was on my 50th birthday (which happened to coincide with Stan's >50th birthday), and they sang it in honor of that. Jeff introduced it by saying it was one of their "edgy" songs. It's a real treat!! -
I agree. I saw the same show at Indy last Sunday and it was excellent. And while the prices for the good seats are pretty expensive (not unlike other really big acts lately), having the $70 GA floor tickets is a pretty nice gesture for fans imo.

From the "grasping at straws" file, this was posted on the Loft's instagram account a couple days ago : May or may not even be a Wilco person playing it. But someone (or something??) is making sounds with a musical instrument in the Loft this week... https://www.instagram.com/p/BYeM966lbAR/?taken-by=theloftchicago

Hey thanks for the playlist! Really appreciate that... enjoying the journey. And Bee Thousand, Alien Lanes, and the new one are damn good. Thanks all. Come to Lexington on Oct 6 and I'll buy you a beer at the show! Vince

Late to the GBV party, but I noticed that they're coming to my city (Lexington KY, woohoo!), and was listening to the new record today (How Do You Spell Heaven). I like the record, but a little intimidated by their back catalog looking at this thread and the Spotify list. What do you all think of the new one? How are they live? Where to start in the massive archives?? Vince
