I've seen a couple tickets pop up on TM, but in general it's been sold out for a while. I decided to make the "once in a lifetime" experience a "twice in a lifetime", so I will be there. Can you recommend a place nearby to grab something to eat, and also some tips on parking? I'm not at all familiar with the area.

In typical VC style, I will now attempt to hijack this thread by responding to a simple, direct question with a non-answer... that's just what we do around here, and I hate to break tradition. I stopped drinking coffee about 3 years ago and started on Chinese tea. Much easier on the stomach, and helped a lot with indigestion issues. I drink a type of tea called "Iron Buddha" that is fairly common in southern China. Similar to oolong. Stronger than green tea; kinda between green and black. I have amassed a small collection of travel mugs which have strainers in the top to filer out th

So how did they work in the Louisville Youth Orchestra? My daughter played in the Central Kentucky version (CKYO), and she was especially jealous...

One thing that I noticed was that there were a lot of multi-generational people there. Lots of groups of father / sons and parents + teenagers. Pretty cool landlord you got there flick.

One more thing and I'll quit blithering. Listening to this record start to finish with thousands of other people who also really love it was pretty cool too. You kinda forget how special a record The Wall really is, but being surrounded by that many others who feel a strong connection to is a great experience. It's easy to see why that record is so beloved by so many.

Well, the show in Columbus last night was incredible. The guy was amazing. I knew the show would be over the top, but I didn't know what to expect from Roger himself. Singing was great, and more of a showman than I expected. The music was perfect. Band was great. I thought it wasn't quite loud enough at first, but as the show went on it built up nicely, and by the time they got to Comfortably Numb it was just perfectly body-shaking loud. If you haven't seen it, you simply need to go. The crowd was a bit laid back (duh), and it was nice to look around and see maybe 1 in 5 people ther

there was some buzz earlier that Gilmour was going to show up at a show at some point on this tour. Has that happened yet? Any word on when that will possibly be?

Hopefully your trip wasn't centered around this.

I am going this Friday in Columbus with my daughter (good father-daughter bonding time). I am really, really excited about this! !

re: Paris +1 for orsay, even if it's partly on the road. it's fabulous, and I find the louvre a bit more than I can handle and less interesting in terms of time periods represented. Jeans are fine, black jeans as well. If anything, khaki's (or anything light colored) will stick out like a sore thumb. 99% of the coats and jackets will be black. Sacre-Coeur (cathedral of the sacred heart?) is pretty cool and has a great view up on a hill on the northeast side of the city. Funky artsy area, but a bit touristy.

Does this mean I'm not going to get my $15 hotel room in a major city of my choice with a complimentary Chinese wedding dress? -
Songs not good enough for the album they are on
theashtraysays replied to Lammycat's topic in Someone Else's Song
I love hearing John sing, but I gotta admit I wish there was another Wilco song that he sang that I liked a little better. It's awesome live, but not because it's a good song. Just because John sings it ... and Jeff plays bass... Here's hoping that John gets to sing something on the new record that we can all request and go nuts over besides that one... -
I'm not familiar with the teoma problem, but someone around here can probly help. Yes, I did go with the MSE solution back in June. Worked like a charm. And free, which was a key consideration. Spyware Doctor wasn't free iirc.

I'll go ahead and post up here in the 'civil' section of the thread. Interesting questions, I can see how those three would be lumped together. I admit I feel kinda old when bands I once thought of as new and edgy are classified as 'veterans'... *sigh* 1. Wilco 2. Wilco 3. No I am a longtime fan of all 3, but Wilco and Radiohead are only ones I see making good records right now. I also thought Accelerate had a 'sameness' (good term) that didn't keep it in my rotation very long. I am pretty excited about a new Radiohead record, since I thought Rainbows was a lot better than Thief. Alt

Wilco to return to the road in the fall of 2010?

Actually I always assumed it was more "public service announcement". But the way that you always posted them a good 24 hours before I got my email was always a little, well, creepy. -
Wilco to return to the road in the fall of 2010?
theashtraysays replied to kavorka's topic in Just A Fan
Dear fellow nazi, there were some emails from Wilco HQ that said something like the South Bend show was the last show of 2010 in the midwest, and that the European leg of the tour would be it for 2010, so that's where most of us got the idea that this would be it for the year. It was pretty clear since July or so. You can join the e-mailing list on wilcoworld and be "in the know" like the rest of us. Or there's a thread on this board which has them all as well. Analogman seems to get those emails before anyone else. Must be a time zone thing or something. Carry on. -
This is not the "leak is here" thread I was hoping for.

On my "airplane" playlist for sleeping on long flights I have these: Night Music - Joe Jackson I Can Make a Mess Like Nobody's Business - (s/t) Love Over Gold - Dire Straits Wish You Were Here - Pink Floyd Birdy - Peter Gabriel Sea Change - Beck Weather Systems - Andrew Bird
