  1. sigh... two for Sun at the Ryman but near the back in the middle downstairs... nothing for Sat.
  2. patiently waiting for Ryman regular sale to start... hum dee dum...
  3. wasn't there a ticketmaster presale for the Ryman shows that was supposed to be on Thurs? or did I make that up?
  4. I'm still kinda surprised that there is one lone Asia date and nothing else. Seems odd to trek over to japan for one festival date. Unlikely, even.
  5. Are you saying there's NOT a body in the trunk of his nova?
  6. Also some related merch and whatnot on the Wilco Store.
  7. I've really tried to get into these guys, but it's just not there. I tried Z, Okonokos, and Evil Urges, and MOF. I saw them open for Wilco in 2005. I DVR'ed the storytellers and tried to watch it over the weekend. Nothing. The storytellers was actually a bit painful to watch.
  8. yet another predictable, boring, and uninspired setlist.
  9. A couple that stand out for me (things that don't blend into the background) Joe Jackson's "Body and Soul" has some good jazzy/big band kinds of horns in it. Radiohead's "The National Anthem" has some rather non-traditional stuff.
  10. So today on the front page of the Best Buy ad is a big headline that says : IT'S ABOUT GOING GAGA OVER FREE PHONES With the new Lady Gaga album on the front, along with some cell phone ads. Get it? Sure you do. So how can the Wilcos cash in on this? Do we have a snazzy tagline that can get the boys some serious branding? It works for movies. It worked for beer and sandwich shops. And it's better than the same old boring routine of touring and the one-song-at-the-end late night TV spots. I will leave it up to you creative types out there. Carry on.
  11. Same way we all do, Crow. Go back and start over. Hopefully they won't have to deal with too many pricks along the way.
  12. South Korea is OK, not all that different or unique from other Asian countries. Food's pretty good, esp the bbq. China is pretty fascinating. All of it. Highly recommended. Best to know someone to take you around, though.
  13. yeah, I watched it too. He looked pretty calm, cool, & collected though. It's gotta be tough to come up with something creative and fabulous 5 times with the same thing. Personally, I think it was the grits that got him in the end...
  14. The Flaming Lips "Powerless" came on my ipod today, and I decided it qualifies for this thread. I suspect there's more Lips stuff if I thought about it harder.
  15. My edit. True fact. Yes you have. But most of us are too old to do too much about it. Sorta. Frankly I don't get all this "old floyd" purist snobbery stuff. The early stuff is great, but I grew up in the 70's and DSOTM and Animals and The Wall are the ones that hit me in the gut at the formative years of music listening. As for The Wall, I don't consider it dark or creepy, but maybe that's just because I've been listening to it for literally 30-some years. As for the actual topic, I don't usually do re-issues, but I can definitely see myself doing some of these in an immersion
  16. Do you plan to throw things at the non-squatters? Somehow I get this image of a baseball catcher in all of this.
  17. I'm really starting to wonder if those two guys are related.
  18. I have never heard anyone other than Andrew Bird actually use that word in a sentence.
  19. The Decemberists with Justin Townes Earle at the Iroquois theater in Louisville. Very excited about the show! (Less excited about the 80% chance of severe thunderstorms in an outdoor theater at a GA show... )
  20. I bought the mp3 download (not the newspaper version) when it came out, and I got an email today with a link to download the 2 new songs. Overall, the record is definitely settling in for me. Not every track, but overall I like it a lot. Looking forward to these new ones.
  21. Electioneering - Radiohead Jane Says - Jane's Addiction Bull Black Nova - Wilco I don't think I've ever found myself saying "gee, maybe it's too loud?" on any of those, ever.
  22. Wendy shot me a dirty look at the Wilco concert in Indy a couple years ago when I let out a "SING US A SONG, JOHN" at a quiet moment between songs. She'll deny it, btw. It seems like DMB gets a lot of hate around here, considering that they've made a lot of really good music over the years. I haven't seem them live so I don't know how horrific the crowds are. I'd go if they were close (and not at a festival). But Under the Table and Crowded Streets are a couple of really good records.
