  1. Maybe it's just me, but I don't really equate "sad" and "depressing". There are some incredibly beautiful sad songs mentioned here, but I don't find them depressing. Or it could be the meds. Via Chicago, Reservations, and now On&On&On and Patient with Me come to mind. They're just breathtakingly sad IMO, and they will just stop me in my tracks when I listen to them. As for the flip side, I think Walken is probably one of the happiest little love songs I've heard since The Beatles.
  2. My lovely bride of 19 years (as of next monday, thank you very much) and I will be there. never been to this venue; looks great though. third row of orch section - ya just gotta love them pre-sales. no clue on attire. will keep an eye out for plaid, scarves, and small human windmills... looking forward to a great time. love the setlists from europe so far.. then again, what's not to like.
  3. "None of this is real Enough to take me from you" Breathtaking. Literally. This new one isn't too shabby either.... "One day we
  4. I had the same feast from famine yesterday. SBS shipment and Cinci presale tickets came together Saturday. All's well that ends well, I suppose, but there shall be no more musictoday ordering from me...
  5. "TheFutureEmbrace" doomed his solo career. It's just not very good. I haven't listened to Tarantula yet, but I do hope it's good. Mellon Collie remains one of my fave's. I even liked Adore for what it was. Here's hoping...
  6. Nothing at my house today, and we're rapidly running out of week. It's quite sad actually. The only thing that happened quickly was chariging my Visa card. Maybe tomorrow. Either it will or it won't. Hey, that's kinda catchy...
  7. Nothing at my house today either. Regular shipping; I got the same email as everyone else got on Friday. Not a very fulfilling experience from "MusicNextWeek". I once again realise why we call it snail mail.
  8. Frank Zappa - Joe's Garage, Act I. Or Acts II and II, although Act I was better IMO. Apparently they all come in a set now anyway.
  9. I am now officially disappointed with the US Postal Service... still no delivery today. And I'm pretty sure today's Tuesday. Not certain, mind you, but pretty sure. Bother.
  10. Um, yeah, sure. Having a minor calendar-impaired moment there. Must be the benedryl.
  11. Now that is an interesting proposition all by itself. Just add crickets.
  12. Did anybody get theirs delivered today? Nothing at my house but junk mail & bills. Thought for sure I'd be watching the DVD till Letterman comes on tonite..... apparently, not.
  13. I was kinda surprised to see that today also. It wasn't in any ad that I saw. Usually Circuit City or Target or someone will have it in there, and BB as well, on the weekend before the release. Wilco's not THAT obscure. I'll bet the Eagles' releases all get advertised.... Alas.
  14. I'm thinking Monday. Gotta be Monday. Choo-choo Charlie told me so.
  15. Anybody know where musictoday ships from? I've never ordered from them before my SBS pre order. Snail mail could get here Monday if it's close...
  16. Tunis has always been a pretty big Wilco fan. KTV and Mobile have been on his Pick's before, and he's had some good reviews of the shows in LVL and Cinci lately. I expected to see SBS as his pick this morning in the paper... it's amazing, but everybody here still goes "who?" when you mention Wilco.
  17. "... a bicentennial-era Don Henley" ? not sure I get that. I guess it could be worse.
  18. Just got my email as well.... looks like we're dependent on the US Postal Service at this point. Your guess is as good as mine. But it sure would make for a nice Monday if it showed up in my mailbox...
  19. Been there, done that, bought the T-shirt. Literally.
  20. I LOVED that finale. And the last Bob Newhart show finale, too. But, yeah, they probably wouldn't recycle that theme. But I do think that Penelope and her Dad and Desmond are the center of whatever this thing ends up being about.
  21. Dominican to place. Horses don't win from that far out, but Rafael will give somebody a scare.
  22. Mangoes. Really, really ripe yellow ones. And Fresca.
  23. So is Locke's pop in the bag going to stay dead, or mysteriously come back to life so that Locke has to whack him over and over to stay in Ben's good graces? We saw Patchie bleed out his ears and convulse into a heap, and the next thing you know he's running around pulling sticks out of ribcages. I'm waiting for the bag over Locke's shoulder to start wiggling. Dead ain't what it used to be on this show... The smokie-thingie being nano-tech is interesting. That idea made for a pretty good Michael Crichton book called "Prey" a few years ago. Personally I think that the whole thing i
