Well, I heard it with my own ears. The Flaming Lips "The W.A.N.D." - that opening guitar riff is unmistakable. In a commercial for Dell laptops. Is this old news? (Yes, I used the search engine...)

It was a really great setlist and a great show. So much fun. She's a Jar with the harmonica was great (pic). Just a lot of great stuff that they seemed to really enjoy playing off of AM and BT. So many of the songs were like getting a Christmas present that you wanted but forgot that you wanted and then had this big happy surprise when you open it... It was a great show and a great crowd. Actually it wasn't in the very center, if that makes you feel any better. It was about 15 feet squarely in front of Nels. Pics tomorrow after a little sleep. As you can imagine, a good time was had by all. Harmonica, John, baseball bats, a GREAT poster, the wayback machine was in fine working order... and our clapping didn't get yelled at!

OK, what about a time and place for those of us who want to do the pre-show thing? Oddly bashful group here... Who wants to meet at about 6 o'clock to get something to eat? Buckheads? I don't know much about the place but would like to meet up. Show starts at 8. Or we can do the Pub thing in the ballpark.

If you go with the one full carry-on, plan to end up with two bags on the way back. It just works that way. Your stuff isn't packed as neatly, and you buy stuff wherever you go. So if you take one of those little duffel bags that fold up and collapse real tiny with you, then you can put all your dirty clothes and stuff in that on the way back and check it. You can put your important stuff & whatever you bought in the carry on without it getting all overstuffed. And you can always just buy a little duffel in LA or wherever you're going too. This is all pretty confusing. Presales for the presales? The Counting Crows / etc show at Slugger field on Aug 3 is general admission. They have two kinds of GA tickets, one for the field and one for the seats. This is not good. But the website for Production Simple (whoever they are) says reserved seating. Dunno. If it really is GA, then that would explain why it really doesn't matter who has the first presale. Outdoor GA is just not my thing any more.... Anybody know for sure?
