  1. Well, I heard it with my own ears. The Flaming Lips "The W.A.N.D." - that opening guitar riff is unmistakable. In a commercial for Dell laptops. Is this old news? (Yes, I used the search engine...)
  2. It was a really great setlist and a great show. So much fun. She's a Jar with the harmonica was great (pic). Just a lot of great stuff that they seemed to really enjoy playing off of AM and BT. So many of the songs were like getting a Christmas present that you wanted but forgot that you wanted and then had this big happy surprise when you open it... It was a great show and a great crowd. The field section seemed into it; no "talkers" in my area. And I think we did a mighty admirable job of clapping on Spiders. Yes, Glenn with the baseball bats was a nice touch. Brought smiles from
  3. Actually it wasn't in the very center, if that makes you feel any better. It was about 15 feet squarely in front of Nels. Pics tomorrow after a little sleep. As you can imagine, a good time was had by all. Harmonica, John, baseball bats, a GREAT poster, the wayback machine was in fine working order... and our clapping didn't get yelled at!
  4. Weather forecast for 8 PM this evening.... 82 in Louisville with 0% chance of rain.... mmmmmm.
  5. OK, what about a time and place for those of us who want to do the pre-show thing? Oddly bashful group here... Who wants to meet at about 6 o'clock to get something to eat? Buckheads? I don't know much about the place but would like to meet up. Show starts at 8. Or we can do the Pub thing in the ballpark.
  6. Shake it off... hey, that might be a good name for a song or something.
  7. I'm driving up from Lexington for this and would also love to meet up. Johnny said he's a "maybe" as well, and he was going to check with some folks in LVL for a recommendation. Does anybody have a favorite place in that part of town? Vince
  8. gee thanks. I was perfectly happy in my little non-conspiracy-theory naive world thinking that our planet was just a bazillion points of light. Now I suppose I have to worry about big brother photoshopping New Mexcio or Guyana or who-know-what. sigh.
  9. I think this came from the Nasa website... love this one!
  10. Assuming the Canadian Post Office comes through, I plan to be there as well.... (Thanks again, Sarchi.)
  11. Maxwell had a silver hammer, not golden. Or am I in the wrong thread?
  12. Those are great John. Thanks for letting us know where we can check those out, too. You're like all famous and stuff if you're at Alfalfa's... it's kinda like being on Leno... but not really.... well, sorta.....
  13. Wilcoworld home page has a link for "NOW ACCEPTING REQUESTS FOR MILLENNIUM PARK" which goes to an online form for requests for the show.... should be interesting.
  14. Best: Iroquois Amphitheatre--Louisville KY +1 on Iroquois. Great venue for these guys.
  15. I thought everyone on VC hated Candyfloss? You're gonna get mail, you know. Mine : Your pillow wept You covered your eyes And you finally slept While the sun caught fire You've changed (if that's not a picture of a night we can all relate to, I don't know what is...)
  16. That is waaaaaayyyyy too much brainwork for something that was originally billed as "obscure thoughts and musings".
  17. Of the 6 studio Wilco albums, 3 have a song with the word "love" / "loves" in the title (AM, ST, YHF) All 6 have at least one song with the word "love" / "loves" somewhere in the lyrics 1 has a song with the word "hate" in the title (SBS)
  18. If you go with the one full carry-on, plan to end up with two bags on the way back. It just works that way. Your stuff isn't packed as neatly, and you buy stuff wherever you go. So if you take one of those little duffel bags that fold up and collapse real tiny with you, then you can put all your dirty clothes and stuff in that on the way back and check it. You can put your important stuff & whatever you bought in the carry on without it getting all overstuffed. And you can always just buy a little duffel in LA or wherever you're going too. But stuff swells.... I've been in China for
  19. This is all pretty confusing. Presales for the presales? The Counting Crows / etc show at Slugger field on Aug 3 is general admission. They have two kinds of GA tickets, one for the field and one for the seats. This is not good. But the website for Production Simple (whoever they are) says reserved seating. Dunno. If it really is GA, then that would explain why it really doesn't matter who has the first presale. Outdoor GA is just not my thing any more.... Anybody know for sure?
  20. We clearly need a "Changing a light bulb is the activity that ..." thread, too.
