ESPN Gameday is broadcasting from Lexington today (like now). UK-UF on national television. This whole city is about to wet its collective pants this weekend. Rumor has it that people here are offering to trade UK-UF Basketball tickets for UK-UF football tickets today. If anyone feels the earth start to tilt slightly off its axis, you'll know where it started.... Go Cats!

Okay, damnit... the BRAGGING Thread

A couple noteworthy from the wayback machine... 1979 Bad Company. First concert. 1980(?) Cheap Trick, with The Romantics as an opener. In their red leather suits. That was fun. 1981 Springsteen - The River tour. Incredible. 1984 Talking Heads - the one-person-comes-out-at-a-time tour that they recorded Stop Making Sense from. Also fun. -
Wilcobase Link ... last night of the tour and a hometown crowd. It was a very very good evening.

Life changing, right? Musically speaking, anyway, these are probably the ones that shaped what I listen to. Kansas - Point of Know Return (High School. On 8-track..) REM - Document (College) Radiohead - OK Computer (since) Wilco - YHF

The Meatball pizza (w/mushrooms!) at Joe Bologna's is the best pizza here in Lexington that you can buy. We make pizza at home a lot, so I suppose I'm a bit hard to please on that front. Pepperoni, italian sausage, lots of shroooms, banana peppers, roasted red bell peppers, a little pesto...

L S WHO? Oh, that was sweet. What an awesome football game.

Is it February yet? Yes, this is a lame, shameless thread bump. I'm not selling anything, so I decided it's OK.

man, that was ugly last night. and in front on a zillion people on espn, too. alas. on the flip side, maybe it'll lull LSU into a nice comfy nap....

You just can't help but love this guy.

This will be the first year I've looked forward to playing Spurrier. Thursday's game should be great.

True story: These guys were singing "Tell Laura I Love Her" on the harbor walkway in Hong Kong. In English. Behind a polar bear statue. One of the most surreal moments of my life. The blond guy on the left with the tambourine was particularly fascinating.

Being a graduate and fan of Kentucky for the past 20+ years, I can say that I have seen my share of poorly coached football games involving UK. Yesterday's game was one of those. But this time it wasn't Kentucky's coach with the coaching issues. Sorry 'bout that, but it doesn't sound like you'll be the one bringing brownies to the Coach Nutt Fan Club meeting next week anyway. Rich Brooks ain't over the hill yet. I'm starting to be a believer!

Kentucky 42, Arkansas 29. UK 4-0. Wow. We might even forget about basketball in this town if this keeps up. Well, let's not get carried away.

Must be an ESPN thing... I'm watching ESPN2 (Cats & Hogs).
-
I saw the Walken ad, too.. must be watching the same football game?

Great to meet you guys too.... hope you all had a nice relaxing trip back up home. I still don't know who was with Glenn on the shaker thingie for Handshake Drugs. Didn't anybody see that? And I will be looking for a copy of this show, people! I saw at least two recording setups if the Sirius feed turns out as lousy as some were saying. I could definitely listen to that one again. And again...

Well, I heard it with my own ears. The Flaming Lips "The W.A.N.D." - that opening guitar riff is unmistakable. In a commercial for Dell laptops. Is this old news? (Yes, I used the search engine...)

It was a really great setlist and a great show. So much fun. She's a Jar with the harmonica was great (pic). Just a lot of great stuff that they seemed to really enjoy playing off of AM and BT. So many of the songs were like getting a Christmas present that you wanted but forgot that you wanted and then had this big happy surprise when you open it... It was a great show and a great crowd. The field section seemed into it; no "talkers" in my area. And I think we did a mighty admirable job of clapping on Spiders. Yes, Glenn with the baseball bats was a nice touch. Brought smiles from

Actually it wasn't in the very center, if that makes you feel any better. It was about 15 feet squarely in front of Nels. Pics tomorrow after a little sleep. As you can imagine, a good time was had by all. Harmonica, John, baseball bats, a GREAT poster, the wayback machine was in fine working order... and our clapping didn't get yelled at!

Weather forecast for 8 PM this evening.... 82 in Louisville with 0% chance of rain.... mmmmmm.

OK, what about a time and place for those of us who want to do the pre-show thing? Oddly bashful group here... Who wants to meet at about 6 o'clock to get something to eat? Buckheads? I don't know much about the place but would like to meet up. Show starts at 8. Or we can do the Pub thing in the ballpark.
