  1. Yeah, it's been pretty dead for months. I heard of another site popping up a while back, don't know the address though. I guess only certain people were told its location. NP: Timber Timbre - Creep On Creepin' On
  2. Yeah, Sacred Songs is probably his best overall record. Listening to it right now actually.
  3. This is still the best song Daryl Hall ever did as far as I'm concerned: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vZZngTkp54I
  4. I must say that most of the RSD releases had zero interest for me. My turntable only does 33 1/3 and 45 so gimmicky releases on 78s were out. I haven't bought 45s since the 80s so those were out. I'm a full album kinda guy so there wasn't a lot available for me, especially seeing that the Big Star, Television and a few other releases I was interested in were either sold out or not there to begin with. Instead of buying some new RSD stuff I'd only listen to once, I ended up with a few old favorites on vinyl and a few CDs. I usually go record shopping once a month so this day isn't probably aime
  5. Good job BDB. I watched this today with guitar in hand, here's what I ended up with: capo 4th fret (all notes relative to capo position) chords (low to high string) F ..... 133211 Em .... 022000 (with occasional hammer-on from open to 2nd fret on the 5th string) Am .... x02210 Dm/A .. x0323x (not sure if chord name is right) C/G ... 332010 G ..... 320003 Am/G .. 3x221x D7 .... xx0212 Intro: F, Em, Am, Dm/A, C/G Verse: C/G, F, C/G, G }x4 Pre-Chorus: F, Em, Am, Am/G, D7 Chorus: C/G, G, F, Am, Dm/A, C/G
  6. There's already 19 people selling the Big Star record on eBay. Good to see these got into the hands of diehard fans. There was a guy in front of me at the record store who was looking for the Big Star record too, he said he'd never even heard of them before today. I guess he was another person looking to make a buck on RSD.
  7. I was a bit bummed that none of the stores I talked to received the Big Star record. I ended up getting "There's a Riot Goin' On" and "Maggot Brain" on vinyl, a used Kinks CD and the new Low on CD.

  9. I got all 3 in the mail yesterday. Looking forward to a little Kinks bender this week. It has been remastered and there's a bunch of bonus tracks, including many previously unreleased ones. I haven't compared how it sounds to previous versions, but it sounded pretty good in the car yesterday. Here's what you get on the discs: [Kinks: Deluxe Edition (Sanctuary/Universal (U.K.), 2011) Disc 1: Stereo LP, singles and extra tracks 1. Beautiful Delilah 2. So Mystifying 3. Just Can’t Go to Sleep 4. Long Tall Shorty 5. I Took My Baby Home 6. I’m a Lover Not a Fighter 7. Y
  10. Wow, that is very sad. I'd be curious to see how this poll plays out in the rest of the country.

  13. ^^ Cool! I checked out some of her other videos, talented girl.
  14. I love his first record, played that quite a bit when I was younger. Watched a solo acoustic concert of his on TV a few months back, he still sounded pretty good.
  15. Music: Van Morisson, Thin Lizzy, The Pogues Books: The Story of Lucy Gault by William Trevor, The Barrytown Trilogy by Roddy Doyle Films: The Wind That Shakes the Barley, The Butcher Boy, Garage, The Magdalene Sisters, Once
  16. I'm pretty sure the Rega's still come with lids included, though you'd never know it by the pictures on the internet. You can just make out the indentation at the back where the lid hinge slides in place: I used to have a Rega Planar 3 years ago, great turntable. I'm thinking of getting a new Rega as my current turntable is acting up.
  17. For the money Rega turntables are very hard to beat: Rega
  18. I've been enjoying the blog posts bbop, thanks for keeping us abreast of what's been happening on the tour.
  19. I've only played it once so too soon for me to get a good feel for it. First impressions though, there's some good songs, probably the best thing he's released in 2 decades, not that he's been prolific in that period with only 2 albums released. If you're gonna investigate his solo work, I'd recommend starting with his self-titled debut, that one is pretty great. NP: Syl Johnson - Complete Mythology
  20. You and me both brother. I meant to post that clip yesterday after stumbling across it. I'm gonna call up my store to make sure they're bringing that one in.
  21. My first thought was ferry too, but swore I heard a "v" on repeated listens so went with very. Ferry is more poetic so that's probably right.
