I'm with you, after Odessa there's nothing. Maybe they'll reissue some more soon [crosses fingers]. Some great reissue labels mentioned already. Some other favourites of mine are: Repertoire Records - Great for hard to find 60s-70s psych, folk, rock... Ace Records (Kent Soul, BGP, Southbound, Westbound... are all under the Ace banner.) - Lots of great funk, soul and rock 'n' roll reissues from these labels.

The oddest, most incongruous covers that you can think of

Some friends and I went to Louisville to see some bands peform at some 2 day music industry thing (Paul Westerberg, Patti Smith, John Cale, Patty Griffin, Sonic Youth...). During the Ben Folds set, Ben setup a couple mics and told us that he wanted to record a chorus of voices for the Shatner song he was working on. He said he wanted to do it guerrilla style as it was cheaper than hiring all the musicians to do it in a studio. He basically directed us what to sing, and had us do about 3-4 takes. He had a signup sheet in the lobby for people if they wanted credit on the record. Unfortunately -

I remember doing that too. There'd always be someone trying to get a kid to lie on the ground behind the ramp. We also used to take our bikes to a BMX course someone had built in a big field behind a science and research complex.

Cool! Once in a while I miss not having a BMX anymore. You just can't do the same tricks on a mountain bike.

I Googled it afterwards to make sure I remembered the name right, it's been so long. Funnily enough I recognized some of the covers that popped up and they were from 1982. Crazy. I sure did love my music and BMX mags. I remember longing for some of the cool BMX bikes in the magazine like the Diamondback, Hutch, P.K. Ripper... all I had was a Raleigh Blue Max at the time.

I preordered that one the other week. Always excited to hear new stuff from Ron. How is it?

^^ My copy of that is supposed to be delivered by Amazon tomorrow, looking forward to it. I saw it today while record shopping but naturally had to bypass it. Just as well, I got enough other things to keep me entertained.

Hit the store today, ended up getting the RME Fireface 800 and Cubase 6. Now the fun begins, learning how to use this stuff. I'm thinking I might get another computer just to use for recording. My current one is pretty loaded up with stuff. Might be better to have one dedicated to one thing.

I'm finally making the switch from an analog recording set-up to a PC based one. I've been thinking of going with an RME Fireface 800 interface and Cubase 6. Anyone using either of those? Feedback on those or any other suggestions are most welcome. Also looking for feedback on going the controller route vs. using the computer for everything. What are your experinces on this matter? Here's my current set-up for anyone curious:

For the Newspaper Album it says it comes with 2-LPs and 1-CD. If that's the case, the "WAV" option at 5$ more than the MP3 version seems unnecessary. I don't want MP3s, but if I'm getting a CD I can generate my own WAVs so I might as well save the $5. edit: Just realized the delay in the release date, so I guess the WAV option makes sense.

These are some of the strings you'll find at my place at the moment: Electric: .. .. Acoustic: .. I've gone through stages of using Dean Markley, Ernie Ball, D'Addario...
