  1. I was actually referring to the Replacements playing the South. I already have tickets to see Wilco in St. Augustine. It was Wilcos' FL tour that made me give up the dream..lol. I was able to find a bed and breakfast ON THE BEACH..for a 1/4 of the price of crappy Solid Sound hotel. Just sayin...those overpriced hotel rooms and the air travel were a financial hurdle I couldn't handle this year. Oh well...
  2. I woudln't say that Solid Sound is beneath The Replacements at all, and honestly I think the average Wilco fan is also a Replacements fan. They are a great fit for the festival. I dont' really think its about the money to Paul and the gang. If they wanted to play the fest they would. Considering Tommy showed up for the last Solid Sound, there is an obvious seed that's been planted. Since I'm not going to SS this year, I am actually hoping they aren't playing, as the thought of Jeff and Paul singing a song together is way too much for me to handle. At least I'll have Roadcase...sigh. They h
  3. The new album from Ryley Walker is great, and Mac Demarco is awesome.
  4. last Solid Sound, I think the last set on Sunday started closer to 4 or 5pm IIRC.
  5. Damn, Jeff is gonna be tired! Strange that they didn't mention Tweedy would be on Sunday night. Although that seems like an obvious assumption. I also read this as a short Tweedy set, a short solo set, and a short "Everyone set"...in other words a typical Tweedy show. Pretty sure Luscious will be there now as well. If John Hodgemen is returning, does that mean we will see another "all requests" show on Friday night?
  6. do you guys bring your wives with you to these shows? or do you go solo? We have a five year old, and a income budget to consider when deciding to go to shows. I'd never want to go to a show alone though. I'd rather go to one show with my wife then 5 shows by myself. It helps that she loves wilco just as much as I do too.
  7. I saw MMJ many moons ago, and they do put on a great concert..that being said I don't think I've liked any of their albums in quite awhile. When they went in the prog-rock direction I lost interest. If that's the "big" guest, I'd be pretty unimpressed. Plus MMJ already has their own festival, so it would be kind of strange for them to headline another festival based on another band.
  8. A local bar got a shipment in. Not the first time I've had Cantillion. But the first time I've gotten this style
  9. "Puts BA cap on"...I scored a bottle of Cantillion fou Foune today.
  10. I just need to know so I can start my grieving period
  11. where is the line up? I feel like every festival under the sun has announced their line up. I want to know what I won't be seeing this year. Andrew Bird? The Replacements? Sufjan Stevens?
  12. Even if they played at Sunfest, which is only 30 mins from my house. I'd much rather see then at their own concert. Sunfest is crazy crowded, and filled with all sorts of different "type" um people.... I would imagine thier set would be much smaller...45 min-1 hour? If you have the ability to travel to see them at their own concert, it would be a much better expereince.
  13. yeah, I think "Loose Fur" was always Jeff's "solo" stuff. Considering a lot of songs were recorded for the Tweedy project, I would imagine that the Loose Fur album is done.
  14. great. I wonder if they will have screenings at this year's solid sound. Look forward to seeing this. Hoping they have good footage of the Mark Mulcahey performance in the museum.
  15. I just cancelled my room at the Topia Inn, but she mentioned that they had a waiting list. The Haflinger Haus may still have rooms. We stayed there in 2013. It's a quick 10 min drive. However this year it looks like they doubled their rates. So it's not nearly as affordable.
  16. Since I still think this album is a grower, I think more people will appreciate it over time. When you look at past "Top albums of the year" lists you'll find a lot of stuff that hasn't aged very well. We happen to be Wilco fanatics, so we obviouosly have given the album a lot more time and patience then most would. It's ok that the mass, or even the critics aren't overally excited about this release. It's not a very "exciting" record by any means. Not every album has to be a fireworks display to be enjoyed. It's a very subtle record.
  17. my ticket fees were $12..and they are will call tickets....................why they couldn't work out a free print at home option is beyond me..
  18. More Alcholol Content = Less Beer you need for a buzz = less money you spend on beer. = less calories you consume from drinking multiple beers. Sorry, I'd rather have a nice 6 or 7% IPA for $6 bucks then two crappy 4% Buid lights for $8. Also, there are plenty of session IPAs on the market now (as someone else posted), but I don't personally care for any of them. Believe it or not they give me more of a headache then the regular beers do. my favorite low ABV beers are Berliners and Gose. Now those beers I could drink all day on a sunny day.
  19. It's actually positive commentary. Although I wasn't around for magic hat day The only negative about Solid Sound is that there aren't a lot oh hotels in the immediate area, and a lot of them are already booked. The town of north adams is beautiful though
