Pitchfork gave it a rather glowing review (for pitchfork)...only real complaint seems to be the albums length and redundancy. Which I can agree with. Id post the link, but maybe we should add a review thread?

My first impression is that the album feels to long and not all that varied. Now I have nothing wrong with long , epic , albums...(last years record from Kurt Vile was my favorite of the year and it's about the same length) I couldn't pay attention to the track list as it was streaming from my phone...but were a few standouts. But quite a few more middle of the road. Once again I want to state this was my first impression...and it's likely to change. Hoping it grows on me a bit more Yeah, this was affected me immediately. When you know the context of when this album was recorded it's eve

oh man...wish I would have read this before I got to work. Oh well, I know what I am doing for lunch. So is it in the vein of any Wilco albums? Or does it feel like something different?
-
No..I'm pretty sure it's a legal issue. Why would they purposely remove tracks from their sound board recordings?
-
I'm willing to wager that there was some clause on Wilco the album that prohibits them from releasing live recordings of the music without paying some sort of royalty to their old label. This would make a lot of sense as to why they decided to start dbM...probably just fed up with having to pay someone else to release and play their own music. It's really really lame in my opinion. and all this time I thought the reason they weren't playing tracks from that album was due to not liking the songs..lol

Here here. I've read so much about this album, and the articles are starting to repeat a lot of info. I'm ready

Wasn't it discussed that there is some strange copyright reason that wilco isn't playing any of the WTA songs? All the tracks were removed from the soundboard recordings. This makes no sense to me. Does anyone know more?

this thread has really gone off course...there should really by a seperate thread for pre-sales. Also, we get it, front gate tickets isn't perfect. I personally have used their services a few times and have never had an issue, but we aren't the Front Gate Tickets customer service forum. So I'm not sure what you're trying to accomplish by beating a dead horse. We can't fix your problem.

I second a South Florida stop! we are overdue!

I laughed at the Lunchables comment. I wonder if they will make other albums....based on the interview it sounds like Jeff likes recording more with his son then with the band.
-
Hmmm....I wonder how comprehensive that rarites collection will be. They have so many b-sides and misc. tracks. I wonder if any of it will be stuff we haven't heard...seems unlikely. also, I wouldn't buy a Greatest Hits collection, but I'm sure there are people that would ....

Grantland interview with Jeff and Spencer--Awesome!
rhino4evr replied to Magnetized's topic in Just A Fan
great article. one of the most personal interviews ive heard from Jeff. -
I've decided to just wait it out until I hear the whole thing. Don't really like hearing bits and pieces. The stuff I have heard has been a little underwhelming..so I'm hoping it works better as a whole album, rather then multiple singles.

TWEEDY — 6/5/14, Detroit, MI (Masonic Temple [Jack White Theatre])

How were the new songs ? Kinda odd that they didn't play the single they released two days ago -
I like the track, not blown away, but I am definitely excited for 19 new songs. I'm also happy that it isn't just a stripped down folk song, not that I don't enjoy the slower stuff. I'm just glad the album will have some more energy too it. Not what I was expecting

I paid MUCH less last year. $400 a night is a total dealbreaker for me. Although I realize that a few board members have the ability to afford splitting Letters to Santa shows and may be on higher pay grade then myself. $400 for that place IS overpriced. I've stayed at much nicer places, (In Paris, even!) for less. Oh well. .
-
Well I called around a few places today, and the prices I was quoted were a bit insane. $400 a night for a standard room... From the Orchards. .yeah. No thanks.
-
Maple Terrace is full? Everytime (twice) I contacted them they said they weren't taking reservations until June. So the lodging drama continues. Blackington Manor sent me an email saying my confirmation was invalid due to a mistake they made with someone else's reservation. So now I'm back to square one....ARGH!
-
i hope they break up at the festival. Then I can tell my grandkids that I saw their last show. (Until they decide on a reunion in 2020) also hoping for two nights of Wilco this year, not one night of Wilco, and one night of cover songs and stand up comedy.
-
Ok, so my last post about lodging...Blackinton called back and said they had a room available!. So I'm officially booked...yay! Anyone on the boards staying there too? Now the long wait begins...
-
well, what else is there to talk about until we hear about the line up/ticket sales?
-
LOL, not really. I mean I guess they didn't talk as fast as I did. They were nice enough though. Would prefer not to share a bathroom. (Well I don't really care, but my wife wouldn't be too happy). I'm sure I will find something.
-
Just called this place. Already booked! Althought I am on a waiting list....since they won't start taking deposits until June. Madness...
