Question for performing Lead guitarists
lamradio replied to lamradio's topic in Solid State Technology
Cool! That may be just what I need. -
Great point. Maybe future guitarists are going to learn to play, regardless of what music or game they are exposed to. Like I have known many people that adore music and guitar, have tried guitar, but just can't seem to take off with it.

Question for performing Lead guitarists
lamradio replied to lamradio's topic in Solid State Technology
Come to think of it, I do find myself using the volume knob quite a bit. But that does cut out the gain, and some of the songs we play need the full gain through the whole song. I guess a volume pedal would work for me then, but the only thing I dont like about them is that you have to kind of "ear it" to find the right volume, so it may be different every time. I wish there was some sort of switch that could change the volume to the same level each time.. I'm sure there is.. Or better yet, I wish my amp had two lead channels. -
I'm not trying to insult real phish fans.. I am a real phish fan and I think they are phenomenal musicians.. I'm talking about the people who wear their shirts and go to their concerts so they can live the hippy/stoner life, and could really care less about their music.. But like UncleSmog said, it takes patience and maturity to really apreciate Wilco and other bands like Phish.

I've never thought of this being an issue for Wilco/Radiohead.. Or even someone wanting to look like they know more about music by liking a certain band.. However, I have seen people trying to be trendy or look cool by liking certain bands. I went to highschool with the "Goth" crowd and it was cool to like Marilyn Manson because it showed how "goth" you were.. Or it was cool to like Phish because it showed how much of a hippy/stoner you were.... But I think when you grow out of that age, you start liking bands because their music sounds good to you..

I'm thinking of getting a volume pedal for one reason: Every once and a while, I will get a complain that my rhythm volume is too loud. The volume is perfect when I go to a solo because everyone wants the lead to really cut through the mix and scream, but when I go back to playing chords (on distortion I might add, clean is never a problem) then some have said it's too loud. Does anyone else use a volume pedal for this reason? Or should find a happy medium and always stick to the same volume? It's not a big issue, just curious what other lead guitarists do.

At first I thought that Guitar Hero was bad for lead guitar, but I'm not so sure anymore. What do you think?

Unfortunately there isn't too much around the PAC.. Atleast within walking distance.. It's kind of in a shady part of town (as most concert venue's are). However, there is a great sports bar around the corner on West Montague that is within walking distance. It's called the SportZ Cafe (you can google it)... They have pretty good food. Basically bar food (burgers and fries).. But they have a giant TV screen and plenty of cheap beer. I'm thinking about meeting there before the show. Unless someone suggests a better place. I think most people will be going to the great bars/restaurants

That is exactly how his music has been to me. I got Heartbreaker because a lot of people said it was his best.. I gave it a listen and thought "yeah, this is alright.. maybe it will take a few listens to grow on me".. I listened a few more times, and it just never really took off for me.. Great lyrics, great melodies, but the songs are just too bland or something.. Nothing too distinctive.. Then I got "Cold Roses" and it was the same exact thing.. A few listens and that was it. So I thought, ok, let me try "Easy Tiger".. At first I LOVED that album.. I thought "finally, this is the R

I sold shoes to that woman (JLH) when I was living in L.A... She was just as hot in person. Even when she wasn't all caked with make-up..

For the Charleston show: According to wilcoworld, it hasn't sold out.. For the last three weeks, when you try and get tickets at ticketmaster, it comes back that there aren't any available.. What the heck is happening? I have heard of ticketmaster leaving tickets on sale for a few days after they sell out, but a few weeks?? It's just cruel for the people that dont' have tickets yet...

I gotta have one!!! What does it do...

I've just never understood how that many people can get brainwashed like that. Believe me, people and religous groups have tried to brainwash me before, and good old common sense always kicks in just in time.. I guess a lot of people just don't have common sense anymore?

Sounds like a dream pedal. That's all I have used and all I will ever use is the RAT. Let me know how your pedal turns out.. I may want one too.

Yeah, I hope Lilac makes a visit. Charleston definitely has a lot of great restaurants. If you wan't seafood (which of course Charleston is best known for) there's Hymans.. If you know Charleston, you probably already know about it, but I think it's the best bang for you buck. I have eaten the cheap seafood joints, and the most expensive and Hymans is my favorite. And make sure you say hi to Rita The Greeter.

Actually, I didn't make it.. Don't know why I called it mine. But man, that's a classic. I had the whole office laughing about that one..

Hahaha yes! That's almost as good my Billary picture..

See what happens when you have that much money and that much time on your hands? You get a little kooky..

I'll second that.. And I don't even really know why I can't stand it. It just seems like a karaoke nightmare or something..

Sorry, don't have any pics. I use a sunburst 94 American Strat as my primary. I also have a natural Washburn J-6 Archtop, and a black Takamine Acoustic (forgot the exact model number and I'm too lazy to get it out right now). l also have some Classical guitar that doesn't have a model name/number anywhere visable. Got it from a friend. It's actually pretty nice if your into Classical. I use a Fender Blues Deluxe 4X10 Amp. I also have a Mesa 4X10 Cab and a Peavey XXX Head that is collecting dust.. I could sell the head, but I just can't let go of the Mesa cab.. Not huge into effe
