  1. Wow.. Haven't heard it yet but that sounds very cool.. Happen to know what song it was? Probably "Stars".. I wish they never broke up.. One of my favorite bands of all time.
  2. I was in the middle of class at The Berklee College of Music in Boston.. A teacher came out and said that we were under attack.. I instantly went home to find my (at the time girlfriend, now wife) crying in front of the TV.. And then we started seeing images of the hotel where the hijackers stayed. I remeber saying "hey, thats right down the street".. I could literally see it from my front window.. My parents were calling all day and telling me to stay home and away from the Subways etc.. It was scary being in downtown Boston.. I can't imagine what it was like being in downtown NYC.
  3. I agree.. The best sounding AUD-recording I have ever heard.. It definitely has that "like you are really there" feeling to it.. It's great that I can re-live that concert over and over..
  4. If I shared some of the gross things my kids have done, I would probably be banned from VC.. Kids are just nasty little beasts from age 1-4.
  5. Great choice... I have always thought that they needed to sell that song more.. And I'm sure a lot of people watching were saying "Hey! So that's the band that plays that song on the VW commercial.. I think I'll go buy their record.."
  6. I'm not in a big hurry for a new Wilco album.. I feel like SBS hasn't soaked in 100% yet for me. I always like it how in between Wilco albums, Jeff will do his solo shows.. I still haven't had a chance to catch one of those yet, but would love to.. And a Jeff solo live album would be awesome.
  7. I'm really digging Easy Tiger. "Tears Of Gold" is my favorite track right now..
  8. You guys are so lucky.. You get TWO Wilco Shows.. Columbia AND KC... My uncle lives up there and he's going to both.. I just got to see them in Charlotte.. Not fair!!
  9. Yeah, I'm looking into a laquer now.. Time to make a trip to Home Depot.
  10. Well, I have had a few weeks to listen to Ryan Adams. My first purchase was Heartbreaker. I listened to the first song and I was like "this rocks!", but then the songs started to really mellow out and it pretty much does that for the rest of the album. Don't get me wrong, every song is very good and has a lot of meaning and emotion, but I was expecting something a little more upbeat.. But hey, there's nothing wrong with mellow stuff... I knew he had to have some more rocking stuff out there, so I went ahead and got "Easy Tiger"... It's not all exactly "rocking", but man I love this reco
  11. Thanks, I'll have to check that out.. It definitely needs some kind of coat now that I have a square on the top where I made my little repair. Maybe something dark that would hide it.. Like a dark orange or something.. That would probably look pretty darn cool! Why am I so obsessed with the way my amp looks? Once I laguer it, maybe I'll post a pic or something.. If you guys care..
  12. Well, Charlotte was a great southern date of course.. But yeah, bring more Southern dates.. Preferably Charleston SC... They played the performing arts center a couple years ago.. Great venue.
  13. Yeah, I heard that some people have used Shellac, but it dries so fast that it's hard to make it look really nice.. You will get a bunch of brush streaks etc. because it dries almost instantly.. I'll look into some other things, but surprisingly there isn't that much on the web that covers this subject..
  14. I'm planning on covering it with something.. You think Scotch Gaurd would do the trick?? I did my own repair for the mildew stain yesterday. I took a piece of tweed from inside the back of the amp (part that you can't see). I cut out a square around the stain, and then put the piece over it.. Yeah, you can see the lines of the patch now instead of the stain, but I guess it looks better than it did.. Maybe some day I'll recover the whole top part of the amp. I dunno why, I'm just anal about the way my equip looks.. I have a 93 strat that looks practically new because of this.
  15. Haha.. Yeah.. I'm starting to accept that there isn't much I can do about it.. I guess it'll just have to be my first battle scar. Thanks for the reply.
  16. I have a Fender Blues Deville 4x10 that is less than a year old. At a recent gig, someone sat a drink on the top and it left a wet spot.. I didn't notice it at the gig, so I put the cover on the amp and took it home.. Well, the next day, I found that it left a large mildew spot on the Tweed covering.. Normally, I wouldn't care to have a stain or two, but this looks REALLY bad. I have tried to wipe it out with cleaner, but that does no good. Anyone know of any good product that could remove the mildew? Or am I screwed and would be better off buying a piece of tweed to recover the spot
  17. Wes Montgomery.. Best Jazz guitarist that has ever lived. My son's middle name is Wesley, named after him..
  18. Who the heck is singing? Is that Jeff trying to sound like Ian Curtis? I thought maybe it was the singer of Interpol for a second...
  19. 27... The last four years have been a blur.. Started having kids..
  20. Right on! I couldn't have said it better myself.. It is all in the player. A guy I used to know got to roadie for a Van Halen concert and he helped set up Eddie's Gear. He was lucky enough to play one of his guitars through his rig, and he said that to him, it sounded like complete ass.. So that proves that a lot of it is in the player.. A great player with a good ear can make any effect sound good.
  21. A few years ago when I was playing with a band in LA, I worked in the shoe department at Macy's in Sherman Oaks.. Jennifer Love Hewitt walked in and I helped her pick out some shoes. Also had a beer with Ed Oneal and stood in the grocery line with Andy Dick.. Also hungout at Mark Hamills house.. His son was best friends with our drummer. It's just part of living in LA. You see famous people all the time.
  22. Excellent.. Thanks for the replies so far. I love how your recommendations vary.. That's a good sign.. It usually means that I could be making a wise decision getting into Ryan Adams.
  23. I keep seeing all of these posts about Ryan Adams.. It seems that he is very popular among the Wilco fan base. I'd like to get some of his stuff, what do you recommend I check out first? Thanks friends
  24. As I mentioned in my post above, stay far away from the distortions.. I have played hundreds of digital processors from the cheapest to the most expensive and I've never found a descent distortion sound.. BUT, if you run the processor through your effects loop, you can still preserve your amp tone.. For example, if you have a nice fender tube amp (which you shouldn't be using digital effects with anyway.. that's blasphemy), if you run the pedal straight through, you will find that it completely cancels the tube sound.. But if you run it through the effects loop, you still get the amp tone..
