  1. My seven year old went through a phase from age 4-6 where he was completely obsessed with everything Star Wars.. It was awesome because I'm a Star Wars geek myself; I already owned all the movies, collector items etc. He's kind out of it now but still pops in the movies from time to time..
  2. They almost have to release a death photo. You know that the conspiracy theory freaks are going to be going nuts until then.. There's already a fake photo floating around.
  3. Someone said it was the biggest news since 911. I hope he died a painful death.
  4. So I now have my eye on a Epiphone 1964 Texan Re-issue (learned about it from Justin Townes Earle, he plays one live quite often). Yeah it's nothing like an original Texan and it's not vintage but supposedly it's a pretty sweet guitar... Also found a 1988 Epiphone PR-350S (I have a thing for Epi's)... A local guy is practically giving it away... So now I'm torn between the two.. Spend more on a new Texan re-issue, or buy the (vintage?) 88 PR-350S? .... hmmm.... Based on recommendations in this thread so far (from Moss and Anthony) it's probably best to go with the new guitar...
  5. For the record, Marshall Crenshaw's version of "Crying, Waiting, Hoping" rocks a whole lot more than Buddy's version.
  6. A lot. Or more? Too soon too soon
  7. I had to look it up as well and I thought I knew about all of the internet pranks.. Another one that will never die is; if there's a video of someone falling off a bike or even just tripping over or something, someone always asks "did he die?".
  8. Those are two beautiful instruments anthonyc007.. Maybe someday when my kids are out of the house.
  9. Wow good find that's a sweet guitar and it's definitely in my price range I'll have to pick one up I especially like the wuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut?????????? And I hear ya Moss, that 88 strat of yours sounds sweet. My 94 Strat is my baby.. I've also been told it's pretty unique since the Fender logo on the headstock is written in an unusual font. I'll see if I can grab a photo of it sometime.
  10. Thank you for the wealth of information anthonyc007. I'm finding some decent prices on those Gibson LG's (although it's interesting that they are ranging from $700 to $2,500) I agree about anything past 5,000 is just bling (I'd actually go much lower than that). I paid 1,000 for an American made Fender Strat in 1994 and that guitar has taken care of me for 17 years, and seems to be getting better and better with age. I see a lot of these 3,000 Martin's etc. and I just think... really? Thanks again. I'll report back when I have made a purchase.
  11. Yes this ^ would pretty much be my response to the question as well. I like Ween... I like them because they are supposed to be goofy, fun, and not to be taken seriously (although admired for their incredible talent/musicianship). But when I think of MMJ I don't think of this.. Highly Suspicious to me is just random as hell...
  12. I dig, I dig. Although if I had to, I would ride into the fiery pits of hell to hit the skip button when "Highly Suspicious" comes on while listening to MMJ's Evil Urges.
  13. If you've taken the time to listen to it 50 times, it can't be that bad..
  14. I think talent and skill must be present to classify art as being good art. After that, it's completely a matter opinion whether someone likes it or not. Nels Cline is an incredibly talented and skilled guitar player, although I recognize that some people don't like him at all...
  15. That Cortez sounds very cool.. I'll keep my eyes open for that model. Thanks Nap.
  16. Now that would be too damn awesome.. The universe would implode.
  17. The last I heard September... But that was Tweedy's best guess...
  18. Here in South Carolina, we haven't seen it as bad as Mississippi or Alabama but it seems like there have been nothing but strong thunderstorms every day for the last week.. We're under a tornado watch now and will be until this evening. A friend of mine has a sister in Alabama and said she went to her fiancees apartment just before last nights storm in Tuscaloosa. When she came back, her apartment was literally gone... Edit: Correction, Tuscaloosa Alabama, not Mississippi.. duh..
  19. So for some reason I've developed a desire to purchase a really old acoustic guitar. I've never owned a vintage guitar (unless you count my 94 Strat) so I'm looking for something in the 60's 70's range. The only problem is I don't want anything expensive because I'm hard on guitars and also I have a house full of kids.. I would cry like a baby if they ever broke a sweet vintage guitar.. They've already cracked one of my guitars and dinged another one so I'm looking for something on the cheap side.. I've seen a couple old Epiphones and Yamaha's that look pretty cool. I've seen a lot of
  20. I wouldn't say it's as goofy as Highly Suspicious but to me it falls into the same category.. "Holdin' on to Black Metal" sang by a children's choir? I don't absolutely hate the tune though and it sounds much better on a good stereo (first listen was over crappy earphones at work).
  21. Wow.. The song is... Interesting... Going to take a few more listen's to see if I really like it or not.. First impressions are that it falls in line with "Highly Suspicious".. Sort of a goof-off song.... Again, gotta let it soak in though..
