  1. Yeah I was going to say something along those lines.. I ate at an Indian food restaurant one time, and the curry smell (and the other strange spices they use) emitted from my pores for a week.
  2. I'm really getting into this band. Love the lead singers voice, and love the dreamy, reverb drenched sound of their latest record. I must get more, and will definitely be getting 'Underachievers Try Harder' as recommended by Mr. Solace. Underwhelmed? That's too bad.. Hopefully their live show has improved some, they sound great in youtube clips. I'm going to be seeing them in a pretty small place in Asheville tomorrow night. Pretty stoked.
  3. I find it interesting that people are listing bands where the singer totally makes the band. MMJ, Band Of Horses.. The vocals make them who they are. Especially MMJ.. Without Yim Yames, MMJ wouldn't be so unique..
  4. Definitely Kings Of Leon. I would probably give the music a chance if I could get past the vocals..
  5. Writing, recording, performing music is #1 of course. It's a hobby and a second job. I'm also a total video game geek, mostly war games. I also work part time for a game company that designs war games (our first release Scourge Of War: Gettysburg). It's more of a hobby too, but I also get paid so it's sort of a 3rd job... I'm a complete history geek, especially Civil War History. I read the books etc., also visit a battlefield at least once a year. I also get involved with my kids activities. My 5 and 6 year old boys just finished their first year of T-ball. They won one game!
  6. Don't go around tonight Well, it's bound to take your life There's a bathroom on the right.
  7. I couldn't agree more. Ben moved back to the South a couple years ago (Mt. Pleasant in Charleston county) and you can hear it in the music. The music is more pure, less pretentious and sounds more "Charleston"... Kind of hard to describe if you haven't lived there I guess (I lived there a few years).
  8. It's interesting how My Darling is one of my favorite Wilco songs of all time, and so many people dislike it.. I wish I understood.. Great lyrics, melody, production.. I don't get it. RIP Jay
  9. Yeah, this is some effin good stuff. I've never given the keys a chance in the past.. Just briefly listened to a track or to of their older stuff, but it never really caught me... But when you guys start calling it "stunning" I had to give them another chance.... Yep, I'll be going to see them in Asheville in September...
  10. I saw the youtube video and you didn't miss much.. It was actually kind of bad IMO...
  11. Going with old reliable tonight:
  12. The Lady Killers - This was a lot better than I expected. After the bad reviews I wasn't expecting much, but I watched anyway because I love the Coen bros. It was funny, dark, everything you can expect from the Coens. Not my favorite, but a good flick. And the black church choir scenes were awesome! Now I want to be a black church choir singer when I grow up... Blood Simple - Continuing on my Coen bros. spree... This movie was GREAT. Might be one of my favorite Coen bros flicks. Incredibly dark at times (probably their darkest movie) and it had plenty of the dark Coen bros. humor... The kin
  13. Yeah I love my TomTom but it takes a while to find a GPS signal sometimes. It doesn't matter if you're in the country or in a city. I was in downtown Atlanta one time, and it took 20 minutes to find a signal.. So I just drove around aimlessly until it started working... But when it works, it's awesome.
  14. Interesting.. Oddly enough, I don't think I've ever noticed that part missing from the live version.. I guess because I'm just caught up in the other noise.
  15. Hopefully not veering too far off topic, but speaking of getting sued, I have a clip of Air Traffic Control chatter on my bands new record. I recorded it from a live stream of ATC chatter from an airport. It's basically "turn right heading blah blah, cleared to land blah blah blah".... I wonder if I can get sued by the FAA for something like this...
  16. It's part of the NATO Phonetic Alphabet Yankee Hotel Foxtrot stands for the letters YHF.
  17. Nickelback is absolutely unacceptable.
  18. Pixies all the way... I never got to see them prior to their breakup, but they were amazing live. Out of all of the bands I would expect to have a reunion, they were at the bottom of the list. I was pleasantly surprised to say the least.
  19. Very soon my friend. Just a couple more tunes to finish mixing etc... You'll be one of the first to know when it's complete.
  20. I've never done this with my music but have purchased music this way. Radio Head - In Rainbows. I approached it as "eh, I'll just give them a dollar, no matter how much I like it"... But I loved it and just didn't feel right about low-balling them, so I think I gave them $10... So if there are other folks out there like me, I think it's a great idea if you set something up like this. I would definitely participate, contribute my own music.
  21. I'm turning 30 next month. Have to admit it has bothered me a little.. Mostly because I have no idea where my 20's went! I know that's what everyone says, but I guess it started when I had kids and started working a real job. Ever since I had my first kid in 03, my 20's have just blown by .... I seriously can't think of a single major event that happened when I was 24, or 26, or 27.... Working hard, raising kids, etc. causes the time to fly I guess.... But I can say I've enjoyed the heck out of it (the little bit that I can remember), and I am looking forward to my 30's.
