  1. just arrived today from Yep Roc ...
  2. Kyle, your avatar has a mind of its own. It can't decide which picture it wants to be.
  3. ... youtube rules. ... andrew bird rules. ... todd rules! Enjoy the show tonight all!
  4. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WHkqoamZ76U Enjoy!
  5. That sounds like a fantastic show! I've been loving the new CD. And so tonight I am going to treat myself by lining up each of these songs in sequence to a playlist, thus re-creating your Bowery Ballroom show in my living room. Then I will figure out if I am too late to add Sparklehorse to my list of bands to see this fall, inducing either fits of tears or some creative rock tourism planning. Wish me luck! Edit - no luck. US leg is over. Now they head to Europe.

Eric, were you there last night? I ALMOST called you during Radio King! It would have been funny if you answered your cell phone and THEN you could hear the keyboards and horns!

I'll add that the sound in the front row of the balcony is always good at The Vic. It's my favorite place to be, even if I sit alone and wave down at my friends in the front row. Not hearing a good mix is really annoying to me. I understand the desire to be front and center, but you can miss a lot of what you came for in the first place. Although, I will say I was glad when they turned up the horns at the request of some people in the audience on the floor within earshot of Gary Louris, then it was better. Lou asked if I could hear the keyboards, and yes I could, but they were none too h
  8. This just in from from the Rogue Wave mailing list ... Pat is a really great drummer (multi-instrumentalist actually), and he's definitely one of the things I like so much about Rogue Wave live.

Kyle, I loved it ... bought and listened to the CD on the drive home. I loved the whole evening for all the reasons people have mentioned above. Especially "Listen Joe" ... And I must say that "Starman" blew me away because it was so unexpected. If only I'd thought to call Erin (she's a big Bowie fan) in time. Dang! But I did manage a call to Ms. Yvon during "Listen Joe"

These reviews are a weird kind of torture for me since I missed his Columbus show due to this stupid bronchitis thing that's going around. So I'll have to live vicariously through your reviews, keep em coming. Maybe I'll find some good live recordings somewhere. Two drummers? Nice. Maybe he'll tour around again for Post-War?
  11. Leoooooo -- Okay ! PS - you've got mail
  12. Was it my imagination, or did that last few seconds hold quite bit of artist-on-artist sexual tension?
  13. Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!! I didn't buy presale tix for Clowes because they weren't very close seats great, hoping the Sep 22nd onsale has a better selection. Who knows. Let me know if you want me to get you one!
  14. Listen to one full song "Adventure Rocket Ship" here under Media Room ... and samples of the rest of the songs here OK, I'm digging this. Bonus song "Embryo Twirl" is great, full of harmonies, kinda Byrds-ish. Tour dates: from Yep Roc
  15. Yes, I've been to Clowes Hall several times. Saw Emmylou Harris there last fall, and she mentioned how Clowes has a reputation of being a performer's favorite venue (although that could have been Suzanne Vega who I also saw at Clowes, anyway one of the two ladies said that. Sorry - I see too many shows and details get a little fuzzy with age ). Saw Elvis Costello's solo performance there last fall. He was able to go sans microphone and the sound of his voice resonated to every seat. That was a unique performance, Elvis solo. I can't really say enough good things about this venue
  16. yeah - the tour starts in November Wow - Clowes Hall in Indy is a big fancy place. It's where the opera is performed, and one with really perfect acoustics. Hmmmm ... Andrew Bird at Logan Square - vs - MMJ at Clowes. I think I may have to go with MMJ.
  17. I totally missed this when it aired, so I'm catching up now.
  18. "Fall At Your Feet" from that show. Dang, it ... I love Neil Finn.
  19. Jen, hope you have a great day! I woulda posted a picture of "29" by Ryan Adams, but dang if that wouldn't be the most depressing picture ever posted in a birthday thread. So, with that in mind ... your cat Sadie asked me to post this.
  20. That will be one I purchase as well. I Crowded House
  21. sorry Tom now, I'm nowhere near responsible for that.
  22. oooh, I'm late too ... ... but still wish you a very VERY Happy Birthday!!!
  23. I love visiting Kalamazoo for shows, but only once in the last few years was I ever enticed to go see a band at Club Soda, and that was for New Pornographers/Destroyer. The place was so incredibly packed, hot, and smoky, and I really don't like places like that to be honest. I much prefer the little Kraftbrau Brewery down the street. Dang, I love that place. But maybe it's because they offer my kind of indie bands and no smoking.
  24. I do not have the DVD that came with the non-US versions of Garden Ruin, so I can't tell you what is on it. But I wanted to make sure you did see the "Making of" videos that stream online. http://www.cityslang.com/ecards/calexico/e-card_eng.html click on "making of" at the bottom of the screen. There are 8 separate videos to watch. If anyone has that Eur or Jap DVD and can tell us what's on there, I'm still curious to know. The Calexico forum is really not very active, but I guess it could be an option to ask there.
