  1. Nice job on the av, Rosie! I just bought the new 3-disc GP Rhino release for the extra disc of alternate versions etc, and we listened to it on the way to the Wilco show in London, ONT, Saturday night. Fantastic. It inspired awe and silence on more than one occasion. Plus, I also bought the DVD documentary, but haven't had time to watch it yet, and I'm dying to see it! Can't get enough GP lately. It's nice that there's some new stuff right now, but ... we know just how short that supply is in the big picture.
  2. Just saw them last week in Detroit and so I'm still smitten with primarily their music, but I did not realize just how handsome they were, too. If you haven't seen the "Making of Garden Ruin" which is streaming for free on line, check it out for some live action. http://www.cityslang.com/ecards/calexico/e-card_eng.html (click on the words "making of" at the bottom of the picture)
  3. John Convertino (L) and Joey Burns from Calexico ...
  4. I just need clarification here - was he inside or outside your parked car?
  5. Yikes -- the Egyptian Theater in Indianapolis. The world's worst venue when it comes to acoustics. What a shame. I suppose the Murat Theatre just steps away is too large, but ... dang.
  6. The show doesn't start at 10 am, I believe that's when tickets go on sale.
  7. This event will go down in the history of Jen and Wendy's rock tourism career as the shortest distance to a show ... EVER. It is walking distance, just a few blocks away from both our houses. So I guess I'll be needing to sign up for the next "Dylan For People Who Don't Like Dylan" class.
  8. Thanks for the great reviews guys ... I still love Transatlanticism. I think when I saw DCFC in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Ben pounded a little drum kit during Title and Registration, but I could be wrong, I just remember it being a very rhythmic and simple beat since he was multitasking. I'll ask my nieces if they remember (and regarding the young age thing - I definitely felt surrounded by college kids, too. ) Glad you both enjoyed it.
  9. I'll third that motion - here's a little younger Beck, awww

  11. *jealous* Needless to say, working on Sunday nights meant missing this show. And missing this closer-to-home opportunity to see Jon Brion is definitely the lowpoint of my summer concert calendar scheduling conflicts. Perhaps I'm destined to wait for the tendinitis to resolve before I lose my Jon Brion virginity. However, I will say this much --- Benmont Tench gets around! I was just sitting in front of him at the Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers show on Friday night in Indy. Altogether a different story, different type of evening for sure, but nonethless ... Benmont Tench! Yay!
  12. Thanks, Lou, for that lovely poem on this fair Sunday morning.
  13. The Wrens' brothers Kevin and Greg Whelan
  14. Aw, Chandler ... thank you for posting these samples!
  15. Yay Spidersman! I'm glad it all worked out for you and nothing got in the way of your having fun!
  16. Nice show !!! Especially the second encore ending with Hoodoo Voodoo And "Either Way" snuck in there, too. I haven't heard that one performed yet.
  17. Ah, I know it for sure would have sucked big time to drive that distance and then not get in. Of course I'm so glad you guys got to go and that it was such a good show. What a lineup! I'm listening to Z again now and it's been a while
  18. MMJ? NP w/ Neko? Malkmus? Great pix, Morgan! I especially like this one: My only question - why weren't we there? Was this one of those student-only things? Carl Broemel, MMJ's multi-instrumentalist you have pictured above, is amazing. We were standing right in front of him, too, one time and witnessed him in action - sax, guitar, lap steel. And FWIW, it looks like the beard/hair-trimming shears have reached as far as MMJ (not Jim James, but the bass player looks all tamed).
  19. Absolutely! It's not very fun to stay home when your first live Wilco show is happening without you! With your recent break-up, it'll do you good to get out of town and change your scenery. Grab some bliss because you need it, and it's right there if you just go get it. Get there early, talk to the people in line next to you, get up close in front of the stage, and you will have a great time! Pretty much you're guaranteed your first Wilco show will make you very very happy! "Do not postpone happiness." Jeff Tweedy, or some Buddhist lady, or both. My first Wilco show w
