  1. IMO, it's the hearing and seeing Andrew Bird perform that is so mesmerizing, although his recorded music alone is great too. He's so unique. Love him.
  2. Have a great one! There will be a beer with your name on it at the Ryan Adams show at the Vogue next week thisyearsgirl and I will be there on the lookout to deliver.
  3. I called the indie record store in Indianapolis called Luna, and they reserved one for me which I can pick up when I'm there for Ryan Adams next week. I have to buy the CD to get it, which I already bought last week, but that's okay. I think the poster is cool. Brittboas, do you want me to see if I can get one for you?
  4. how'd I forget to list Riviera!
  5. Fruit Bats used to be a Chicago band What about Healthy White Baby? Devin Davis? Califone?
  6. my #1 fav Chicago boy, and friend of Mr. Cusack as well ... Jeremy Piven who, by the way, plays the drums
  7. Manhattan Murder Mystery is one of my favs, but I love Woody Allen.
  8. If anyone plans to go and wants my ticket for free - I'll send it to you today. I can't go after all.
  9. Hey, that St. Louis show is a Saturday night. You expect Rosie to stay in and study on a Saturday night? Is that what you did on Saturday nights in college, Lou? totally agree ... yeah, they're 99% perfect on CD, and 100% perfect live. That's kind of a backwards compliment, or a loaded phrase, or whatever you want to call it -- because obviously only one band or person can be the greatest. I think Calexico are fantastic songwriters, their melodies have taken up permanent residence in my brain for months now, and that spot doesn't usually get inhabited by mediocre so
  10. You may have to do the math ... but here's some info from the DBT board, Nine Bullets
  11. Thanks tugmoose ... I guess skinny didn't finish his setlist. It looked so 'done' But I remember now hearing "people who died, died" That show was really great.

  13. Seacaucus released in 1996 Abbott 1135 EP released in 1998 (which is waiting for re-release) Here's some links for you ... their touring agency, fan board, website, and allmusic.com for release details etc
  14. that was amazing ... the NPR dude said it would be streaming AND available for download on the NPR site soon.
  15. Thisyearsgirl and I talked to Greg Whelan after their 2nd show at Schuba's, and he said they were working on a new record "maybe out next year." But Meadowlands took years, so I wouldn't hold my breath. Per KORK, their touring agency, here's a few dates: 2006 9-16 - Cambridge, MA - Middle East 10-13 - Columbus, OH - Little Brothers 10-14 - Newport, KY - Southgate House 10-27 - Philadelphia, PA - First Unitarian Church 10-28 - Washington, DC - Black Cat Plus, Lizish posted this about Charles starting to teach guitar lessons, so that doesn't bode well for spending time scrubbing
  16. ... Easy On Yourself (but I likey Jason Isbell !)

  18. More TM problems here as well. TM obviously screwed up this Tom Waits onsale. I was trying with a few of other people to score for the Detroit Opera House show, but Ticketmaster had screwed up the purchase part. My buddy crosseyedstranger here at VC lost 10th row or something excellent like that to time-out because of that TM snafu. I managed to get around the bug (I had to say I lived in USA outlying islands or some such nonsense) without losing my 4th row center balcony seats, which should be pretty nice. Tickets went extremely fast, but we figured as much.
  19. I don't know. Are you my neighbor? what's your name there? This is me: http://www.last.fm/user/humankindness/ Oh, I know who you know ... Tweedyzgirl ... she used my Gram Parsons avatar to make a custom one with words on it. So, I guess our avatars are look-alikes.
  20. Jeff's got stress fractures in his legs from jogging. Maybe he can't do a full-bore show yet? I'm actually quite impressed he's doing the tour of Canada at all with this fractures. Quite the trooper, no? When I saw them in London, I knew they were only doing about 21 songs, and they were 21 kick-ass songs, especially excited to hear "She's a Jar" because A) it's so beautiful, and B ) I love how he and John blend their vocals together so precisely, skillfully. Just love it. And Paul? I didn't read any criticism into your post. You're reporting what happened, and thank you for that,
  21. Have a terrific b-day, Judy!
