  1. I believe John is the most underrated. He is an excellent guitarist and his harmonies are always perfect, IMO his voice complements Jeff's voice in a unique way. The others have been given much much praise over time, but I think John deserves much more praise than he has received. Plus I really love how he runs up to the microphone at exactly the last second, and never too late Other than John, I suspect Pat might be underrated because I keep seeing his name attached to things I wasn't aware of - like on Ryan Adams "Heartbreaker", and Joseph Arthur, Josh Rouse, and Andrew Bird. So
  2. Typo! - This show is Wednesday August 23 (tomorrow), not August 13 as noted in the first post. So it has not happened yet! You can still come! If any of you VC readers out there are coming, just an FYI that Columbia Street serves great sandwiches and salads, you can grab a table and have dinner there while you wait for the show. I mean, it's not like you'll be doing much sight-seeing in Fort Wayne.
  3. I haven't seen it yet, but this reminds me of the premise for the Beulah DVD "A Good Band is Easy to Kill." And I love that DVD. So, yes, I do plan to buy it because I loves me some Luna and never got to see them perform, either.
  4. I do NOT have this, and would loooooove to have it. But Tugmoose, you are one of the most generous people here at VC on offering to share videos ... I will PM my address, but I'm beginning to feel like a mooch. Literally last night, I went to Borders and bought Roy Orbison's Black and White DVD because (a) I have been wanting it for a long while and (b ) I just learned Tom Waits was on it. And after seeing Tom Waits in Detroit at the Opera House a couple weeks ago, I'm in need of more, especially video
  5. Please let there be another show added
  6. Finally, a show in our own downtown! Thanks to Matt for the opportunity. I hope we get Columbia Street to invite more indie music to town.
  7. Todd is brilliant. And sometimes he's not. If you like Something/Anything (and it is one of the best double albums ever, IMO) ... check out Hermit of Mink Hollow and Faithful . Then Nearly Human and Liars have some excellent moments, but not as good as the earlier work. Actually, I agree with the ratings given at allmusic.com, so definitely check that info out. theologians-style costumes from the "Liars" tour I am not a big fan of Utopia, however.
  8. we've got 2 threads going, so yeah, he was a great actor. I always enjoyed him. I didn't realize he did an Entourage episode. Maybe it hasn't aired yet. http://forums.viachicago.org/index.php?showtopic=23798

  11. Charles was there! Yay!!!!! That is one of the best photos of Jeff I have ever seen. You are amazing. Hope you enjoyed the show.
  12. !whoa! I remember that song and it is beautiful. Congrats to you lucky folks who heard it live first. Paul, thanks for the setlist -- I'll bet you're glad you made it to this one. Fletcher, your post really made me smile. You described that feeling of transcendent bliss that is like crack to music freaks. Dang it, I love that feeling. I had that same feeling at the Grand Rapids Tweedy solo show in the chapel last fall, a most moving experience. I also don't think anything can reach that again. Although I'll keep going to shows just in case.
  13. Decemberists - The Crane Wife holy crap this is good
  14. I miss Jay every time I see old Wilco footage from jhamm. I wish I could have seen him perform with Wilco. But hey, life moves on and what is more constructive is to focus on what good things Jay is doing today. Yeah! And I listened to his songs on MySpace and they sound good to me. So now I hope I can see him perform with whatever band he puts together in the future.
  15. Hope it was a sweet one, Sir Stewart!
  16. I wonder how he will manage in NYC. I always got the impression that Thax got by with a little help from his friends, so I'm hoping he has some good friends in NYC. Best of luck to him. Maybe a few prayers, too.
  17. To Sue, the coolest Wilco ticket fairy of all. Thanks for everything you do for us fans.
