  1. The website is way cool. Prices 17 and 20 dollars at 2 of the shows I glanced at. Wow, very reasonable. Hope he hits OH/IN/MI sometime soon. I've only seen him solo so far, and looking forward to the new album and seeing him with the full band. 2. It doesn't "ring hollow" IMO when you take into account what kind of attention to Chicago and the charity and political scene of Chicago that Wilco and Jeff solo have shown in 2008. Gewee, did you get to see any of these shows? 3. For the Detroit show it went about like this, although I wasn't really looking at my watch when Wilco started. Neil was supposed to start at around 9, but it was a bit later than that. My best guess: 7:00 Everest (started on time) 7:50 or 8:00 Wilco 9:15 Neil Young
  4. Here's the recipe Donna! GREEN BEANS WTIH TOMATOES Serves 6 GREEN BEANS: 2 lbs fresh green beans, cooked until tender but not overcooked. (fresh is way better, but you can use 2-3 cans cut or whole grean beans, just be sure not to overcook them either, because they will fall apart something terrible) TOMATO SAUCE: 1 to 2 Tbsp olive oil 1 Tbsp butter 1 medium onion chopped 1 clove garlic minced 1 Tbsp minced celery 2 to 3 fresh tomatoes coarsely diced (or could use stewed tomatoes if you have no fresh) 1/2 Tbsp parsley flakes 1/4 tsp rosemary 1 tsp wine vinegar 1/2 t
  5. This list is okay by me ... I listened to maybe 70% of these and enjoyed them. But I always find it hard to judge what is "best" unless I hear everything.
  6. I love that she covered Harry Nilsson. Even sang it on tour this fall. I keep hopeful about the new album, but she did play 2 new songs which were okay on first introduction, not knock-outs, but way too early to judge IMO. What a nice cast of guest artists, too! Moving from the Tucson desert to a farm in Vermont? That's a big switch but sounds awesome!
  7. I have no recollection whatsoever of that avatar from one year ago, which is a very sad commentary on the state of my brain. However, I will say it is great fun to see it again for the first time. Edit: Oh, I know why I don't remember it so well ... it's much bigger than before! Somehow all our avatars got bigger recently. (Sorry to go off topic but I feel somewhat better about my brain now.)
  8. OKay now, that's some great news! http://www.myspace.com/eefbarzelay (The first video on his MySpace cracks me up at around 3:30 in ... when the baby cries. ) http://clemsnide.com/ PS, I love your dressed-for-holidays Loretta Lynn! Is that the work of one of the VC professional dudes, or LL are you talented in the ways of pixel art?
  9. I love Low, but I understand the comments. The Wilco opening band I had to leave the room for (twice) were the two nights at Radio City Music Hall a few years ago -- Fiery Furnaces. Never have liked them.
  10. Well, I was being lazy i.e. if nobody cared about the recipe enough to PM me, I wouldn't bother finding it and typing it up. But I will now for you if you give me a day or two, I'll add it here.
  11. But that's a good thing, because the original poster's dream show has a very good chance of coming true!
  12. My family does not do that green bean/mushroom soup casserole anymore. Thank goodness, as we all really prefer Mom to make the green beans this way: Green Beans with Italian "Salsa" Topping recipe. Sort of like a warm chunky bruschetta topping of sauteed chopped fresh tomatoes, onion, garlic, rosemary, and olive oil. You can make the tomato topping the day before, and just steam the fresh green beans just before you eat. Love those do-aheads! (PM me if you want the recipe!)
  13. Dec 9 & 10 are the Letters to Santa fundraiser at Second City in Chicago, and Jeff will be playing on Dec 10th. See "just a fan" section for info.
  14. Great sentiments from all above -- I couldn't say it any better re: family, friends, work, and ... music! This link courtesy "yim yames" of MMJ and seems fitting today! Have a groovy day! William Devaughn - "Be Thankful For What You
  15. We listened to CKLW as young teenagers in the early 1970's whenever we were up at the lake in NE Indiana. We had great reception there and CKLW was much better music than WOWO from Fort Wayne. Many hours spent laying in the sun listening to the radio back then!
  16. I listened to that last night. It was wonderful! He was so young, just 22! There was a certain innocence and charm in his banter (funny how he talked about learning about artists residuals, "you know, money!" haha) and the songs, oh so beautiful. I cant' wait for this release.
  17. "calling Mrs. Peel" ... and runs off to listen
  18. This is more of a direct link (I think anyway) than the one above in 3.63's post ... it may make no difference whatsoever. But that's all I got, other than updating Quicktime. That worked for me once a upon a time in a Wilcoworld listening-in session. Your mileage may vary. http://wilcoworld.net/roadcase/tanglewood.php
  19. Nice review Miss Jayne. Cool that Kelly Hogan sat in ... was this unique to the SF shows? We gotta get DBT back to Indy at the Vogue again.
