  1. Best laughter of the evening? Lots of them to choose from, as it was a really funny and fun evening as always, but possibly the mid-show phone call to Susan from Jeff's dad, who apparently was testing out a new cell phone. After a few exchanges, he and Jeff can't decide on a song for Jeff to play for him. Then after a short pause, Dad announces he's naked. Later on Jeff and Susan shared some "Wisdom from Dad." Here's one ... advice from Dad to Susan every time they get in the car to leave after a visit: "Keep your legs together." I also enjoyed the bit where Jeff threatened to

  5. Stop saying those words and ... answer the question, you highy messed up freaks!!! why aren't people getting this?
  6. Okay. This thread is moving to "Someone Else's Song" then.
  7. Neil Finn's studio in New Zealand has been a popular place with some of our favorite artists lately. My favorite line: When asked "how's it hanging out at Neil's place?" RA: "When we first came in, he walked out of the control room, and I kind of pretended I didn't know who he was because I didn't want to freak out." Nice ... "Fix It" solo piano performance. It was going beautifully until they shamefully faded it out before completion.
  8. "Turn Your Pretty Name Around" was particularly lovely last night ... and NPR has it posted as "Song of the Day" today. The whole show was road-trip worthy for me. But The Ark is just a special, special place. http://n.npr.org/NPRI/jN12736722_34292.htm

  10. This is a good thread to read for info, plus Jules left some other links to check out. http://forums.viachicago.org/index.php?showtopic=38365 Here's the historical stats from past auctions, although I can't say how accurate the earlier numbers are. The last 2 auctions I attended, so I know they're correct. So you can do your own projections here about what may happen in the future. Our group shares equally in raising the money (i.e. we divide by 30) ... other groups may not.
  11. I'm pretty sure I answered that one before ... but I'll have to look it up.
  12. Before any jokers come in here and start giving you fake dates and addresses ( ) I'll be honest with you ... I admire (and share!) your passion about attending a living room show, and recommend you go to the upcoming Vic shows because, as you know, they are always outstanding, and then in the fall when the next auction season starts brewing, re-post here with your continued interest to be asked into a group and you (anyone) will have a MUCH greater chance then, okay? You're just a little late for this year's round of parties. Save your dough, they're not cheap, but realize the money goes 1
  13. None of the 4 shows have taken place yet. I know ours is full and even has a waiting list. You should come to Chicago for the weekend of Feb 13&14 and go to the two charity fundraisers at The Vic if you can, because those are seriously fun shows ... next best thing to a living room show IMO! You won't regret it!
  14. Not sure when Ian Hunter was there but probably in the last 2 years.
  15. I had to play it through twice straight away, just to re-listen to the DJ's excitement at the end! Yeah I can't wait for more!
  16. Heyyyyyyyyy! We got 5+ inches here and schools are closed. It was very powder puffy light dusty snow, though. Pretty and easy to shovel!
  17. Here's something OTHER than the music that I love about DBTs: Patterson Hood himself writes to his email fanlist about what is going on with the band. I like that. Just got this, in fact, today.
  18. Hm. I read it as just cutting back, since we're all sorta watching ourselves more (I'm assuming anyway) I'm thinking it's time for HBO to take a hike, although today I did enjoy some episodes of those wacky polygamists on "Big Love" I'm not sure I care too much about it anymore. If "Pushing Daisies" came back on HBO, I'd keep buying it.
  19. Hey Lee - there's some really good info for you in this thread (not surprisingly, these questions get asked a lot - who doesn't want good seats? ) http://forums.viachicago.org/index.php?showtopic=32451 Check it out, and good luck in the presale! (PS - fast connection speed, logging in ahead of time, and typing FAST are important!)
