I am able to read the July issue. But I can't post it, it is not copyable in this format, its sorta like a PDF file where you click the button and the page turns, like a real magazine but sorta animated.

Wow. What a nice send-off for Tim Russert ... a live solo performance of "Thunder Road" by Bruce Springsteen from tour in Europe to end the memorial service.

It looks like there's a Tom Waits thread in "After the Show" section, so to keep things tidy, here's a link to point you in the right direction for post-show talk. http://forums.viachicago.org/index.php?showtopic=35859

GREAT review! Thanks for posting it RAIN DOG! I heard through the Calexico yahoo group grapevine (lots of Arizona peeps) that some tickets for this show went on sale randomly. Somebody pulled two tix in 10th row just a few days ago. So check with Ticketmaster if you got shut out for a show in your area. It could still happen.

Taking an extended sabbatical from the board
Wendy replied to Sweet Papa Crimbo's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
Not true, dude. Well, since you didn't say why, I'm going to assign a reason just so it sits better with me. I say it is because you have too many fun things planned for your summer and don't have time to visit. That's my hope anyway. I know I have less time to spend here in the summers due to it being nice outside! -

Movies Watched with the Most Tissues Needed
Wendy replied to Wilco Worshipper's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
No shit. I was crying (that weird laughter-mixed-with-tears kind) just watching Tim Russert on The Daily Show videos posted in his RIP thread. -
I can't believe they did an in-store at Ear-Xtasy Records in Louisville on record-release day. I'll bet that was wild. I'm trying to imagine Wilco doing that in Chicago.

I liked him a lot. Very sad to die so young.

Great to see the DBT's !!! This is probably all I'll watch today though. Edit: I gotta say, as much as she rocks on bass, Shonna's vocals were not great live. Youch!

I think I did that NYC/MSG/NYE thing a few years ago with The Flaming Lips and Wilco. That was fun as hell! And I have say MMJ really knows how to throw a NYE party, so they will probably out-do themselves. An Evening With ... !!!!!!!!!

We didn't get Stevie performing with TP&HB in Detroit. He did open for them, but that was it. And it was fantastic (although I could have done without "Higher Love" - *waaaaayoverplayedonradio*) And sadly "End of the Line" is my least favorite Wilbury's song. (*waaaaayoverplayedonMTV*) But, oh well. It was still a fun evening and we got, I believe, 3 songs from Wildflowers which made up for not playing "Breakdown."

They've got a nice cross-section of songs from a variety of albums on their MySpace page ... http://www.myspace.com/casadecalexico Here's a single song - All Systems Red (acoustic version) - this one slays me, so beautiful. I like it better than the version that made it to the album. It is a free download from the City Slang label HERE promoting "Garden Ruin." Or download it here if you have probs with that site (I did initially) http://www.mediafire.com/?qorktu5zp0l There's some interesting "making of" Garden Ruin videos to be seen at that promotion site as well. Way to go Tugmoose!!! I remember the day 16 years ago when I refinanced and took out my 15-year mortgage and I thought to the future ... "Boy, will I be old the day this gets paid off!" And I have a 20+ year-old water heater. One day soon, I'm sure ...

New songs performed at the recent Mariachi Aztlan de Pueblo High School benefit in Tucson. Two Silver Trees: Writer's Minor Holiday: Man Made Lake (clip): Inspiracion: With Jacob Valenzuela on lead vocals, a song written by him & his brother (and an oldie for good measure - end of "Not Even Stevie Nicks" and then Dylan cover "Goin to Acapulco")
