  1. Damn, my buddy and I weren't planning on 7 days, but we WERE planning on a few of the nights. Sounds like we need to get on it. In any case, they're playing the Clearwater Theater in West Dundee (about 30 miles NW of Chicago) which happens to be a 10 mile drive from my place. Needless to say, March 14th is gonna be sweet.
  2. The Simpsons should have been off the air roughly 10 years ago. I don't even try with it anymore. Now, that said, believe the Simpsons to be a HUGE influence on the current animated shows on television. However, the order for me is as follows: 1-South Park 2-Family Guy 3-Aqua Teen 4-Spongebob The Simpsons could come in at #5 but I'm sure I could dig up a few more I'd rank higher.
  3. I've pushed them away for so long, but I gave the new one a shot. Keep in mind, it's really not up my alley musically, but I enjoyed the first couple tracks a bit. However, the album just drags with so many ideas thrown in and no real direction or cohesiveness IMO. It's quite a tough listen top to bottom.
  4. Amen to that. Every Wilco/Jeff show I've been to since a Riv show back in August 2002 has included that song.
  5. What Light would be a huuuuuge mistake.
  6. Ignoring virtually everything he's done since Straightaways, sure, he's elite. His songwriting is finally starting to come around again. The last album was the best thing he's done since 1996 and I still haven't listened to it in months.
  7. I just had a rough day going into this thing and I think I just wasn't into it as much as the past three shows. It was still good, I just wasn't that into the songs they chose for tonight for whatever reason. However, I was diggin' the Summerteeth and, as mentioned already, to hear Hotel Arizona again was excellent. To add to my misery, they did Spiders again, something I was praying I'd only hear once over the 5 nights. I am so damn sick of that song, live or otherwise. I'd take Tweedy playing it solo over the full band any day of the freakin' week. Also, is it totally necessary to pla
  8. To be fair, they have seemed quite enthused with a bunch of the older tunes. Opening with "Blue-Eyed Soul" last night was amazing and I wish they'd bust that out more often. But I don't feel like you'll be hearing "That's Not The Issue" or even "Can't Stand It" after this run.
  9. I'd say you may get a few thrown in, but for a lot of the very rare tracks, it seems like they're almost just going through the motions. I'd say, sadly, expect 95% what you've seen from sets the past few years with maybe a few select tracks rotated in and out.
  10. I'm actually kinda feeling the same way, but I think it's more due to the fact that I want to stop working at my job and it's been particularly awful the past week.
  11. From my vantage point he seemed to have a small grin on his face. I thought he seemed to be digging it. I mean, how could you not? He's kind of hidden away over there for a fair portion of the show. When he gets out, he's showing off: good for him.
  12. Jay took Cars Can't Escape with him too so I'm holding out hope... I just really, really wanna hear Thanks I Get and Let's Not Get Carried Away, two songs that would have been great on Sky Blue Sky in place of, say, What Light and Shake It Off.
  13. Wow...just wow. I'm not exactly new to the Wilco live effort and tonight left even my jaw dropped. There's no way they don't repeat at least a few tunes over the course of the next four nights if they play 30 per show. Just awesome.
  14. Logic screams "Misunderstood" or "I Must Be High," but I have yet to find a better opener than You Are My Face.
  15. This is the only album that makes me so completely emotional just about every time I listen to it. Sure, London Calling makes me grin from ear to ear whenever it's on, YHF puts me in a trance, and several other albums have a similar effect. But there is no other album out there that has quite the same effect on me as In The Aeroplane. Frankly, I do not believe there will ever be another album quite the same. And as much as I'd give both testicles to see Jeff Mangum performing these songs at a place like Schuba's, I almost hope he never comes back to the music biz and lets this album conti
  16. Likewise. And I'm still dying to hear Can't Stand It. XRT played it on my way into work yesterday and it put the biggest smile on my face. And I take "Complete Recorded Works" to mean every song including "Mr Darling" and "We're Just Friends" and the like.
  17. I'm shocked that, of a list that long, I cannot list even 10 I'd pay the admission to see. Excellent: I won't feel like I'm missing anything again.
  18. Yeah...Bejar's rolling through Chicago 4 days before the rest of the 'Nographers.
  19. No Order (and probably with a glaring omission or two): Neutral Milk Hotel - In The Aeroplane Wilco - YHF The Clash - London Calling Television - Marquee Moon The Beatles - Revolver Bob Dylan - The Freelwheelin' Bob Dylan Grateful Dead - American Beauty Destroyer - Destroyer's Rubies Led Zeppelin - Zoso Elton John - Goodbye Yellow Brick Road Honorable Mentions: Fleetwood Mac - Rumours The Beatles - Rubber Soul, Abbey Road, & Let It Be Pearl Jam - Vs Talking Heads - Fear Of Music
  20. If you want to be severely disappointed in Weezer's direction and songwriting. I am not looking forward to the next one as Make Believe was the first album I refused to purchase after streaming it on their MySpace. I put Beverly Hills in the "Worst Songs Ever Written" list. It still makes me cringe.
  21. Well seeing as we're having some drain-clogging issues right now, peeing in the shower would be completely disgusting. During a 5 minute shower, I'm standing in water up to my ankles. Even then, I still think it's gross.
  22. The whole Central divison being above .500 is no surprise. Thanks to the magic of the Overtime Loss in the standings, over 90% of the league will end up above .500 (as of today, we're at 80% at or above .500). Add the OTL's to the regular losses and see if your team is still above the mediocrity mark. This leads to my feelings on the "3-point game," when the teams go to overtime or a shootout. This has also caused an inflation in the appearance of a team's performance. Also, you'll notice teams sitting back if they're up in the 3rd period and, when tied, you'll notice those same teams do
  23. Yeah I'm willing to bet this one earns 1 out of 5 stars from every critic...at best.
  24. Too many awesome albums, but here is today's attempt: Spoon - Ga x5 LCD Soundsystem - Sound Of Silver Wilco - YHF Andrew Bird - Mysterious Production Of Eggs Decemberists - Her Majesty Arcade Fire - Funeral Sufjan Stevens - Illinoise Destroyer - Rubies Deerhoof - Apple O' Ryan Adams - Heartbreaker And I know I missed a bunch...
