  1. Copping a bitchy attitude and calling people ignorant probably isn't going to help your cause with getting someone to tab this out for you...Just a heads up. It takes time for someone to figure it out and tab it. It's not a very popular tune and, if someone already has it tabbed out, I'd be truly surprised. Give 'em some time.
  2. I was getting ready to move and had a bunch of tax papers and other stuff on my bed as well as sorted laundry. Unfortunately, a recent winning lotto ticket worth 1000 bucks was on top of that stack of papers and, evidently got blown under the laundry pile before the laundry hit the bed. I gathered up the laundry, threw it in the washer, then ran back in a panic a few minutes later. After the cycle ran through, there were pieces of lotto ticket scattered about the entire load. I still haven't lived it down.
  3. Want a cookie? Interesting (and slightly lengthy) read. Thanks.
  4. Actually from all indications (interviews and personal friend accounts) Rivers is a complete douchebag who deals only in douchebaggery. The song in general reminds me of Beverly Hills: utter junk that only gets worse on repeated listens. Sure, the early Weezer albums had some goofy songs mixed in with the more serious ones, but the line has become increasingly blurred and now it's just junk all around. I listened to Make Believe once (it took several tries) and that was way more than I should have. I have a feeling this album will be no different.
  5. I was trying to figure out if that was Pfork being sarcastic as usual or not. I guess not, but there's not a band there I'm familiar with enough to know more than a song or two they're playing.
  6. My girlfriend loves Maroon 5 and Fall Out Boy. I've managed to get her into Wilco. Immersing her into the live experience on our one-month celebration was the best way to do that. We've basically agreed that I will not play Deerhoof or anything else she makes "the face" at as long as she won't play the two aforementioned vomit-inducing hit makers.
  7. I'm glad I came here now and read this thread: I'm on my first listen through and wrapping up "Highly Suspicious" as we speak and was getting scared the whole album was like this...
  8. Thanks for all the responses. It's not an easy conversation to have as I try to avoid confrontation if at all possible and she's the kind of person who gets very offended if you ask a question where she can construe it to mean that you're putting her 100% at fault for it. My girlfriend actually has not been like a 3rd roommate. The girlfriend lives at home with her parents and I actually end up over there about 5 of the 7 nights a week until the late hours. This is due mostly to the fact that when we started dating and she'd come over and say "hey" to the roommate, who would respond with
  9. If any of you have any (logical) advice on the above question, I'd love the help. First, some background: I made a really quick decision to move from southern Indiana back to the NW burbs of Chicago. I'm 24 (with a college degree) and took back my old high school PT job in order to make the move possible. I decided to move in with a friend who was looking to get out of her parents house at the same time. We'd been best friends for a really long time (never dated) and being of the opposite sex never got in the way until... I got a girlfriend that wasn't her. This happened only a couple
  10. I heard the title track on XRT here in ChicagoLand yesterday. Ouch. Unexpectedly bad.
  11. Some stuff on my list has already been mentioned, but here goes: 90% of Bob Marley's stuff DOES sound the same Radiohead is overrated (but still not bad) Pink Floyd, while putting out some amazing albums, is still very overrated: I can't dig all of it very much David Bowie is just okay Bob Dylan's post-'60s output pales in comparison to anything he did during the '60s Gary Louris and Jay Farrar's best songwriting days are about 10 years past The lyrics on SBS are strikingly similar to the lyrics from AM: not the return to form I wanted Jeff to make Brian Wilson's "Smile" is mostly cheesy, so
  12. "I don't give a hoot about what you think." That's tough, cuz I think it's modern pop shit. Not on the level of "Beverly Hills," but still utter shit.
  13. I still cannot get into this album as a whole. It's just completely lacking something. I'm really not sure what it is, but I'm not digging it much. I especially dislike the choice for the first single.
  14. While it's grown on me, I still have a hard time making it though the album. I just find it...boring at time I guess. I haven't been truly impressed with Gary's efforts in quite awhile though: every album seems to have as many misses as hits. And boy can the lows be low. This album starts with the two highest highs (True Blue & Omaha Nights) and then hits the lowest low (To Die A Happy Man). After that, it's kinda wishy-washy. I'm not really swayed one way or the other.
  15. I too find the the album completely front-loaded. The first 4 tracks are absolutely outstanding and then it's extremely hit-and-miss.
  16. I just can't get excited for these festivals. Too highly priced for my budget, way too many people. Just not into it at all.
  17. As a huge hockey fan, I'm sad to see him go as he is just a classy guy all around. And what a wonderful thing to hear about the Flames treating him so well last night too. Just great stuff all around. The game will miss guys like him.
  18. IMO this is the best album they've released yet. I love the variety on it, but I still find myself coming back to that "same old" Black Keys sound on the album; meaning, I can't get the riff to "Strange Times" out of my head for more than a few hours at a time. I'm still working in a small place where I can put on whatever music I choose and I find myself coming back to this one daily.
  19. Yeah Trace and Straightaways are in the "Jay stuff worth listening to" group for me. I was saying anything Wide Swing and onwards is spotty at best. I do dig a fair portion of WST, just not much in comparison to it's two predecessors. That said, "The Search" was a decent effort but I always feel (since Straighaways) that his albums are just a feeeew songs too long.
  20. Ahhhh...Jay Farrar in pre-"Wide Sing Tremolo" days...I finally dug some of that stuff out again the other day and it reminded me of just how little I listen to him now. And yes, get March 16-20. Outstanding contributions from both Jay and Jeff.
  21. The ability to start an album by singing "uno dos tres veinte"?
  22. Tweedy looks downright gaunt there...almost scary. He looks so much healthier these days and I'm happy for him on that one.
  23. I really dislike Billy Bragg (Man In The Sand only served to reinforce that). His whole shtick just wears on me really quickly. I made that mix really quickly and actually kept most of the tracks in the positions they were on their respective albums. It seems to flow well. Airline To Heaven California Stars Feed Of Man Hoodoo Voodoo *When The Roses Bloom Again Secret Of The Sea At My Window Sad and Lonely Remember The Mountain Bed Christ For President One By One Blood Of The Lamb Hesitating Beauty *Joe Dimaggio Done It Again Another Man's Done Gone Someday Some Morning Sometime *If I'm
  24. Still don't know what those are and that song's lyrics are so absolutely awful it's a turn-off to the whole album. I dig the tune "Flake" to some extent (moreso than anything else in his catalog) but, yeah...awful.
  25. My girlfriend loves Jack Johnson and he's one of my major musical turnoffs. The dude fails to develop as a songwriter from album to album and his albums continue to get more boring and lazy due to it. No matter how much I try, I can't make it through an entire album in a sitting. Just soooooo boring and so many lyrics that leave me cringing.
