  1. I'm with you guys on the whole "don't complain about the set lists" thing. It bugs me: let them play what they want to play and if you don't like the set lists, don't go to the shows. I'm sure there will be other people willing to go (Wilco "virgins" if you will) who have never seen them and would die to see them play "I'm The Man Who Loves You," "Jesus, etc." and other songs that they've played at seemingly every show since late 2001. The Summerfest show on July 5th was my 22nd show and they played what I've come to call a "standard set." Granted, I'd still rather hear two different songs
  2. 1. AM 2. Being There 3. Mermaid Avenue Vol. 1 4. Summerteeth 5. Mermaid Avenue Vol. 2
  3. I may be in the minority here, but I thought Pirates 2 sucked. I paid 9 bucks to see the midnight showing on Friday morning and felt like I wasted a night and some cash. The little comedy there was in it was juvenile at best and the movie was totally unbelievable as a follow-up to the first one. For one, the first movie, while not very realistic, didn't seem cheesy-fake. In the second movie, I can remember at least 3 scenes where everyone in the crew should have been dead from falling (especially Sparrow's fall through 5 bridges from a height of what I presumed to be roughly 10 stories).
  4. What I wanna know is: what happened to "Is That The Thanks I Get?" They've stopped playing it...
  5. For I Am Trying To Break Your Heart, your first step is to tune your bass guitar slightly sharp (I believe). They sped up the tape (or maybe slowed it down) after recording which leads to you, the person trying to play along, sounding horrendously out of tune. That being said... I didn't feel like tabbing out all that John does (although maybe if provoked I might try. He bases everything around the B (7th fret, E string). He seems to alternate playing the F# and E notes on the low E and on the 7th and 9th frets of the A string. This is the basis for the whole song as the chord progressi
  6. A Shot In The Arm is entirely D and G. That being said, the "riff" John plays for a fair portion of the song is as follows: G---------------------4---4-6-4--- D---------------7-7-7---7-------7- A-5-5-5-5-5-5-5------------------- E--------------------------------- The other cool part I remember off the top of my head is towards the end of the song when Jeff is singing "oh, you've changed." John works from a G down to a D by playing: G--------------- D-5-4-2-0------- A---------2-0-5- E--------------- He bends the A-string a bit when he hits the second fret too. Otherwise, this song is pr
  7. If it's "okay" in his country, shouldn't the media take it to the extreme and refer to Ozzie as a "fag" everytime he does something wrong? Apparently, it's okay with him. If it's okay to use that homophobic epithet, why not? I've always thought Ozzie was a scumbag as a person, but a great baseball man. After this episode, it's hard for me to even compliment his baseball skills: it'd be about halfway to calling John Wayne Gacy a "sweet-looking clown."
  8. Okay, it's finals week but I only have a meaningless one left so... Anyone need a particular song (I can do PKB--just say the word)? I can make attempts this week since no work and little school means Scalz can play.
  9. The original tab I saw here way back when had it in Drop D so that's how I learned it...if I could even remember it.
  10. Thank ya--the joys of laying around sick all day...
  11. Agreed--a lot of them are really quick learns too.
  12. Isn't that about death...? If so, that's kind of creepy: see if she has some necro issues.
  13. Here we go... Get the beat of the song down and this should help. It's extremely close to what they play on the album. "Cold Shoulder" Farrar/Tweedy Tabbed by: Matt Mulcahy (scalzunfield@hotmail.com) Feel free to comment/post corrections. Verse: Doesn't matter... G-------------------------------------------------------- D--------5------5------5-------------------------------2- A---5-5----5-5----5-5----2-4--5-0-0--5-0-0--5-0-0--5-0--- E-3------------------------------------------------------ Or what you've... G-------------------------------------------------------- D---4-4----4
  14. I may be able to work on it tonite...We'll see. If I decide not to go the tab route, i can at least help you along a bit.
  15. It's Drop D with Capo on 2 using three chords with (as previously stated) various hammer-ons and such. The three chords I play are: D-000232 A-x02220 G-020033 And I believe someone earlier in the thread already tabbed the little riff Jeff does.
  16. I just typed the address in directly instead of giong through the link of main page of viachicago.org Weird... It worked though. Thanks and great work with getting this back up and running.
  17. It's weird--it tells me "Forbidden" in Firefox, but lets me in from IE. Anyone else getting this problem? I tried clearing cookies, but no luck.
  18. I've been working on this book for a couple months now. It's almost 1100 pages long, but it's brilliant historical fiction about a archaeologist dig in the '60s where they uncover artifacts dating back to caveman days. Each artifact is then explained with a separate story. All the stories work together to show the reader a complete history of the site of the dig. It's really a fascinating concept and brilliantly written.
  19. Thank you kind sir. I've been playing for over a year now but don't know names so much as where a chord fits in while playing one certain song. Thanks.
  20. Lame question, I know, but I'm still relatively new to guitar and don't know all my 7th's and such yet. Can you (Dan-o) or someone else tab that G7 chord for me? It'd be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  21. I just drop D and capo on 2 and play this for the riff (I'm pretty sure this is how Jeff did it solo last time I saw him): D chord, then: E-2 (let ring)-- B-3 (let ring)-- G-2------------- D---2-4-2-0---- A-------------2- D-0 (let ring)-- Hope that makes sense--I'm not proficient at tabbing either.
  22. If the recorded version wasn't so far out of tune, I'd love to help, but it hurts my head just to sit down and try playing it.
