  1. With the exception of the Jethro Tull like flute, I couldn't disagree with you more on Attack & Release. Although I'm not as harsh on Magic Potion as most on this board, I find it to be my 3rd or 4th favorite of theirs. yup YUP
  2. I have seen almost every incarnation of Uncle Tupelo and Son Volt. Although I strongly prefer the Boquist version, the latest version got after it pretty good. That said, I prefer Jay solo these days (or w/Mark Spencer, Anders and the like). Jay has found a nice stride to my ears and it really comes out when he is solo. I think he struggles with pulling in the larger crowds without "Son Volt". However, I would think it more lucrative so tour solo and play the smaller venues. Oh, and Brent, no Chaos Streams? I love that tune.
  3. Apologies they misspelled your name. Enjoy your birthday Sooie!
  4. I have never heard of such show. Is it watchable? Congrats to him though.
  5. Happy DAY!! Hope it's a great one.
  6. Is there a proper release for this or is it a boot?
  7. Agree completely. I believe the bulk of his albums outside of Uncle Tupelo and Trace need minor, to major, editing. However, that is a personal preference. There are brilliant albums buried in just about every one of his releases.
  8. Happy Birthday youngin' Hope it's a great one
  9. I like the sound and feel of it. The guitar work is excellent and, to my ears, it's a good listen. I've always been impressed with DBT's musical prowess and the Brad Morgan drumming. Add in Booker T's keys work and a Tom Waits cover and it works for me. Not too many instrumental albums that I can get behind. I don't disagree with that.
  10. I actually like it quite a bit. Maybe you just have shitty taste in music?
  11. This summarizes it for me. With the exception of a cd pre-purchase that comes with an immediate electronic download, I haven't bought a cd since "Folker". I probably haven't bought more than 10 physical cds in the last 6-7 years.
  12. Yes. Now, I just need Vilanova and the bracket is mine! Mine I tells you, MINE!
  13. Thanks for the review. Very pumped to see these guys. Jason's album is definitely the album that I come back to most frequently in 2009 and I like it considerably more than I did his first... and I like it quite a bit. Peel - I think you'd like JTE. I wasn't blown away by his first album but really dug his Daytrotter session. The new one is VERY strong.
  14. Although I can't necessarily agree with that, you are in the top 5. Happy birthday PEB!
  15. Booker T and the motherf'n DBT - Potato Hole
  16. this may be the most ironic thing I have ever read on this board........and that is saying something.
  17. 4 songs in and better than I even imagined.
  18. I've listened a bit more and really like some of the songs. Others are just downright bad to my ears. I'm all for 'heart on the sleeve' lyrics but some are just tough to listen to. Vocally and musically, I plain don't like 3 or 4 songs.
