  1. There is no such thing as 'bad press'.
  2. Fort Recovery on the way in. Love these guys.
  3. Really digging the Pagan Angel version. Thanks for the tip.
  4. Happy Birthday!! Hope it's a great one
  5. completely agree. The Search was a bit meandering but had some extremely solid songs on it. Methamphetamine has to be in my top 3 Jay songs. Straightaways had a couple of snoozers on it but otherwise great. Wide Swing Tremelo doesn't get enough credit.
  6. After 2 listens I really like it. However, I miss the home recording/acoustic style of Killers & Stars. This sounds a bit too much like a DBT record without the Cooley. The bass is recognizably better on several tracks though.
  7. I'm not a musician but I don't think I could sing a song with a puppet bobbing along next to me.
  8. Oh, and I'm not sure if anyone outside of the Chicago area gets to listen to Neil Funk and Stacey King but damn if they aren't fun to listen to. A couple of homers but it works for me.
  9. If you would have told me a couple of years ago, hell, last year, that Joakim Noah would be a solid player in the NBA, I would have thought you were a jackass of some sort. Hats off. I haven't been interested in NBA basketball in many years. Look forward to tomorrow.
  10. I don't disagree but Being There is #2 for sure.
  11. I see Slobberbone is coming to town. I'm waiting for the Drams sophomore album.
  12. I love this album. What it lacks over many of Jay/Son Volt's recent output are throwaway tunes. This is solid front to back. I loved The Search but it was meandering for sure.
  13. I love the feel of the first solo record but I don't love all of the songs. Miss Me Gone, the Assasin and Pay Attention to Alice are two of my favorites though. Solace - can you enable a couple of our PM boxes?
  14. wow... I need this one. I have 3 or 4 songs off this one but look forward to hearing.
  15. sucks to hear. Good news is that they have come a long way with hip replacement. Obviously easier for a young guy like Jay to recover.
  16. Andrew Bird - Armchair Apocryphya http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00...argeheartedb-20
  17. The Gaslight Anthem - Live at Park Ave
  18. I love the Auerbach album and it's definitely one of my favorites for the year. Attack & Release is still my favorite...assuming I had to pick one. I don't. Agreed on the solo show. I'd pay to see that again. I've only seen Black Keys once but the solo Dan/Hacienda show was far better.
  19. There isn't a single headliner at Lolla that I would want to see. I'm not a festival guy to begin with but considered going last year because of the stellar line-up. This year, the list would be limited to the following for me: Bon Iver Dan Auberbach Heartless Bastards The Gaslight Anthem Constantines Langhorne Slim Other Lives I'm sure that they'll be some great club shows in Chicago that weekend.
