  1. I have heard snippets but need to hear more. Seems a bit more diverse than his previous . I have had a hard time with any of the electonic Bob. I would like to hear more of a Husker Du Bob but not likely. Some Sugar Bob wouldn't be too bad either. This one definitely has pieces of Workbook and a mix of Sugar in it. They lyrics are very out front as well.
  2. Happy Birthday!! hope it's a good one.
  3. hey, thanks everyone. So far, so good. I got a nap in along with a nice little gift from the kids. Heading out to dinner tonight, drop the kids off and then going to meet some neighbors for beers and such. Should be a nice little Saturday.
  4. Wow! had not heard of this either. Off to search!
  5. Christ. Easily the weirdest thread I've seen in VC in awhile. Isn't their a website devoted to this paranoid horseshit somewhere?
  6. Jeff Tweedy will never be "laid off".
  7. I like Shonna's songs... they just don't fit on a DBT album, or DBT show, for me. Nice harmonizer but I don't think she should be writing songs for the albums. Maybe a solo gig?
  8. I can understand the lyrics/voice thing. However, for me, he didn't bring much to the live scene. The triple guitar onslaught was pretty impressive but Cooley is more of the stage show to me. I'm a huge Jason fan...don't get me wrong. Just much prefer him solo now. Maybe I'm selfish. The first time I saw him live solo, he was opening for Son Volt. He sounded very good but struggled with the front man part. The 2nd time, he was unreal. Getting kicked out was the best thing that could have happened to him. I think you just set my soundtrack for the ride home.
  9. I was in the minority in that he wasn't the highlight for any of the DBT output to me. I love his contributions to Decoration Day and Dirty South but I loved Cooley and Hood's stuff much more. His Blessing & a Curse offerings were throwaways to me. I really liked his first album and love his latest. I was glad that Jason was in DBT but I'm not necessarily missing him in the band either. It's great having him release full albums and touring the little clubs.
  10. Great video OTM! Hilarious stuff... that said, I really don't think that my "vote" took. The green thumb turned green but I don't feel good about it. If there is more to do, let us know. Good luck. I hear the drinks are free.
  11. You are going to have to speak in proper English if you'd like for me to look at your link. Schoker?
  12. Me No could be my favorite of Clem Snide's songs.
  13. Raindog2 made some good suggestions. I'd also recommend Almost Blue if you like the country side of things. The guys voice is incredible.
  14. I'm willing to bet this doesn't suck.
  15. some great ones already mentioned.... a couple that I've always been fond of: Uncle Tupelo - Lilly Schull Avett Brothers - All My Mistakes Wilco - Say You Miss Me Jason Isbell - Dress Blues Paul Westerberg - all of Stereo
  16. Jules and Lammy stole all the funny responses.... Happy Birthday anyway
  17. Happy Birthday! Hope you had/have a great one.
  18. Great album... it's a grower too. Very rarely would I like a Replacement's cover. Most bands have no business covering them. He pulls it off in a big way.
  19. Nice introduction to Hacienda for those interested. 4 songs including one unreleased Hacienda - Daytrotter Session
  20. Damn I love this album. I just picked it up a couple of weeks ago but it will be in heavy rotation this spring/summer!
  21. I have yet to see this show, however, I'm certain I'll own the series at some point in the near future. I'm a big fan of George Pelecanos' books/writing. I believe he got connected in season 4. Is this a show that I need to watch from the beginning or can i pick up in the middle? It may take me a year to watch a full season.
