  1. I can't say that this album is in my top 25 or anything...however, it is definitely in my top 10 when it comes to listening while on a driving trip, plane ride, train, etc. Something about being alone and traveling with this one works well.
  2. Left Hand Brewing Company - Black Jack Porter And I thought their stout was good.
  3. I checked Jason out at Double Door last night. He has come a long way as a front man in the past year. I saw him open for Son Volt shortly after the break with DBT and he seemed to struggle a bit being out in front. Last night was a great show albeit way too short. He was "co-headlining" with Will Hoge but his set was limited to about an hour. He absolutely killed with Van Morrison's "Into the Mystic". Jason is one talented singer/musician. Side note - Double Door...I don't think I've ever seen a bad show there.
  4. Wow, a bit amazed that Naked Raygun is playing SXSW. They dominated by sophomore/Junior years of high school. Much of their stuff still holds up as hardcore-lite.
  5. I think that has everything to do with it.

    Philco

I love the band that is Wilco today but goddamn if that video doesn't make me miss a few of those guys.
  7. Seems like you would really like the following: Lucero- Rebels, Rogues & Sworn Brothers Glossary - For What I Don't Become (highly, highly recommend) Dexateens - Hardwire Healing (Patterson produced) Marah - Angels of Destruction
  8. have a great one Mike. And try not to be too shy about posting more often. Happy B-day!
  9. It actually makes me like him a bit despite the fact that previously i found him a bit douche-like.
  10. There was a recent thread on them if you do a quick search. They have had some new releases that you may pick up to quickly get into them. There was a 'best-of' album that I would consider a must-have for a newbie.
  11. maybe harsh... it just sounds like a Blue Oyster Cult tune to me. I love Jason but I think I agree with your earlier assessment that he held his best stuff for the solo endeavor. Personally, I think Blessing & a Curse would be a great album if Jason's offerings were a bit stronger. You plug Shotgun Wedding and Brand New Kind of Actress in place of the tunes that they went with and that would be a really strong album.
  12. Big vibes Kevin...it is not easy having your child in the hospital. Vibes for a quick recovery.... this will just make them that much stronger.
  13. I'm with you completely...with the exception of "Easy on Yourself"...that song blows. edit: Great article in popmatters interviewing Cooley and Hood - link
  14. I was just there yesterday (assuming you are talking about in Orlando)...now back to this horseshit weather. I have been trying to pick up the new DTR but iTunes just won't allow it.
  15. I was out of town all week and just picked up the full length today. This album has potential to quickly become one of my favorites.
  16. I am SOO glad that the US has an endless supply of money. Bush is pure genius. Short-term thinking at it's finest.
  17. Completely agree on this. She sounds great on "Two Daughters and a Beautiful wife". I definitely like her as a back-up singer and her bobblehead action is always kind of fun but I'm not sure how I feel about seeing her sing live or her contributions on the overall album.
