  1. Having more viable candidates for 2008 will render Nader a bit less significant.
  2. No, I was being sarcastic. However, I definitely think that the movie and Oscar nomination is what put them in the Chicago Theatre.
  3. Great stuff. Jon Stewart is a class act. I love the album and glad to see them so well-received. Hell, the Chicago Theatre may be too small now.
  4. It's in today's paper. I was just about to post this. It really is a good look at the residency.
  5. I saw the convenience charge yesterday when getting Gary Louris tickets. It's asinine.... we are just going to get them from the venue box office to avoid some of the charge. Oh, and the Avett Brothers are phenomenal. I think I'm going to check them out in Madison in May.
  6. I believe that about every other issue of the "magazine" contains brilliant health advise like eat right and get the proper amount of exercise. The title of the article something like "What You Need to do To Live to be 81" like lynn's Dad.
  7. They typically reserve that sort of treatment for the more talented musicians like Jon Bon Jovi.
  8. Also, looks like they wound up changing the Chicago venue to the Metro. Maybe they read this thread and figured the Vic to be too aggressive.
  9. Jay is still around and making music. I know that I saw him live late last year. He'll be fine, folks. I don't think it's time to write-off his career just yet.
  10. I agree he is a huge talent...legend wouldn't be an overstatement. That said, I doubt he will be well-received. I've seen him open up for much smaller acts and folks were carrying on conversations like he wasn't even on stage.
  11. I've met only a couple.... I met LouieB first as I bought some Wilco tickets from him back in 2005. I've bumped into him at a couple of non-Wilco shows since. I believe that he hits just about every show in the Chicagoland area. I met Skyflynn last year in Madison. With the exception of wanting to share one beer with "two straws", he seemed like a great guy. Kevin - No means no. Many other VCers that I would like to meet. This is thwarted to some degree by the fact that I rarely hit Wilco shows anymore. This isn't due to the new fans not being as cool as the old fans believe it or not
  12. I'm still a bit uncertain what I will be getting back... however, I was thinking an iPhone and then the balance directly into the kids 529 college plan. A little foolish spending coupled with some practical stuff to offset.
  13. I actually have 2 iPods, my hard drive and a back-up hard drive. Most of my music is in 3 or 4 different places so no single point of failure. I'm thinking about getting a server at some point as well.... and an iphone.
  14. Depending on where you buy it as a download, the artist should make as much or more. Personally, I just don't like cds cluttering up the house. I love the idea of having all, or most, of my music in my hand as I head to the car. That's just me.
  15. That's great. The "old" fans sound amazing! Thanks for clearing that up. I know that they were very polite and quiet from reading about them in concert threads but this clarifies it all for me.
  16. Ction, I'm not sure if anyone is better qualified than you to address my issue. Can you compare Wilco's "old" fans to their "new" fans? Warmest Regards, blue
  17. I'm glad that I could sway you. I actually knew that we were on the same page for the most part. I just thought that you were thinking he was strong armed into changing his mind. After re-reading your post, I'm not quite sure why I thought that. At any rate, we'll now have two bands to see where there once was one.
  18. So the band has joined forces with new bass and drums and are heading on a tour of Europe.... I'm sure the states will be right behind it. In other news, I'm enjoying the hell out of the new album.
